Zelda

Zelda is the princess of Hyrule, a descendant of the goddess Hylia. A century ago she struggled to awaken her sealing power and turned to the study of Sheikah technology instead. When the Calamity struck she did awaken it, and she has held Ganon inside Hyrule Castle ever since. Her voice is what wakes you at the start of the game.

Who she is

Zelda carried the pressure of being heir to a power she could not control. She spent years researching the Guardians and the Divine Beasts, and Link became her appointed knight. Her father, King Rhoam, pressed her to train her sealing power, which strained their relationship. The memories you recover show how she came to trust Link.

Where she appears

  • As a voice at the start of the game, urging you to wake and guiding you onward.
  • In memory scenes that play when you stand on the spots shown in your album photos.
  • In Hyrule Castle, where you can read Zelda’s Diary and Zelda’s Research Notes as well as King Rhoam‘s Journal.
  • In the final battle, where she lends you her aid against Calamity Ganon, including the Bow of Light for the last fight.

Why she matters

Her seal is what keeps Ganon contained, so every Divine Beast you free and every step toward the castle works in her favour.
