Who they are

Rhoam was king of Hyrule and father of Princess Zelda. He died when Calamity Ganon rose 100 years ago and has lingered on the plateau as a spirit since. He hides behind the guise of a wandering old man so as not to overwhelm Link while his memories are still fragile, and only reveals who he is at the end of the quest. A mountain in the Tabantha region on the map carries his name, Mount Rhoam.

Where to find them

Leave the Shrine of Resurrection and the Old Man is waiting by a campfire close to the exit. He wanders the plateau and turns up again near the tower and shrines. Once you leave the Great Plateau you cannot meet him again.

Quests and rewards

The Isolated Plateau

After you pick up the Sheikah Slate, speak to the Old Man. He asks for four Spirit Orbs in return for a Paraglider, one from each of the shrines Oman Au, Ja Baij, Owa Daim and Keh Namut.

When you have the four orbs, he tells you to picture an X across the map with the shrines at its corners and meet him where the lines cross. That spot is the Temple of Time.

At the temple you hand over the orbs and receive the Paraglider. He then reveals that he is King Rhoam, explains the Calamity of 100 years ago and asks you to seek out Impa in Kakariko Village, free the Divine Beasts and defeat Ganon.

What you get

  • The Paraglider, which lets you leave the Great Plateau.
  • Free items left lying near the Old Man‘s camps while you explore the plateau.
  • The story of the Calamity, and his direction to Kakariko Village.
