Business Scrubs hide in leafy plants and spit nuts at you until you block them with your shield and strike them. They then apologize and sell you something: bags, bottled bugs, potions and refills. One grotto scrub in Hyrule Field sells a Piece of Heart if you give him the password. A Business Scrub Seed calls a scrub to wherever you stand, so any dungeon can have a shop. Do not confuse them with the Deku Scrubs of the Great Deku Tree, who only trade hints, or with the Mad Scrubs of the Lost Woods, who only fight.

Lost Woods scrubs as a child

Stick bag scrub

A few turns past the first patch of soft soil in the Lost Woods, a Business Scrub waits in a thicket and spits nuts at you. He explains that his nuts are easy to handle if you block them with your shield. Do that, hit him, and he gives in with “Squee… Ya got me! I’m sorry.” He offers a bag that carries more Deku Sticks for 40 rupees. Pay it for the Bigger Deku-Stick Bag, which lifts your stick limit to 20. He then says you bought up everything and leaves. The route is in Lost Woods and Sacred Grove.

Bug scrub

Further on, past a stone archway and under the Lost Woods banner, a second scrub surrenders once you bat his nuts back. His list scrolls through a Red Potion, Three Recovery Hearts, Five Deku Nuts and a Bug. The Bug costs 30 rupees. Choose it, accept “Wanna buy it?” and “You collected a bug in a bottle!” appears, so bring an empty bottle. You need a bug for every patch on the soft soil page, and a Gold Skulltula sits at the patch beside this scrub. After the sale he calls out that he is rolling in rupees. Pick any other item on his list to hear its price.

Glade scrubs, first visit

On the way back from Lon Lon Ranch, blow open the cracked boulder in the Lost Woods with a bomb, step on the save flower and enter the glade beyond. Two scrubs stand among the leaves. The first sells a bigger Deku nut bag for 40 rupees. Choose “I’ll buy!” and “You got a bigger Deku-nut bag!” appears.

The second scrub of the glade shows “10 Deku seeds?”, “30 Deku seeds?”, “Magic jar?” and “See you later.” Pick an item to hear its price. Skip it unless you are short of seeds. This trip is in Errands Before the Temple of Time.

Glade scrub, later visit

When you return to the glade after the Happy Mask Shop lends you the Mask of Truth, the shop menu scrolls through “Red potion?”, “Green potion?”, “Three recovery hearts?”, “Magic jar?”, “Bug?” and “Business Scrub Seed?”. It is the one Lost Woods shop with a Business Scrub Seed on the shelf, and its Bug is handy for the soft soil patches near the glade.

Dungeon scrubs

Dodongo Cavern scrub

In a side cave of Dodongo Cavern, a Business Scrub hides among the plants. Hit it and it apologizes for attacking you. It sells Five Deku Nuts and Five Deku Sticks. Choose “See you later” to leave.

Lord Jabu-Jabu’s Belly scrub

On B1 of Lord Jabu-Jabu’s Belly, swim on through the pools to a leaf pad where a scrub waits. His stock is “10 Deku seeds?”, “Five Deku nuts?” and “Business Scrub Seed?”. Skip it and he says “Nothing caught your eye? Well, talk to me again if you have a change of heart.”

Shadow Temple scrub

Past the glowing purple gate on B3 of the Shadow Temple, a scrub sits in a dark chamber. He lists a Green Potion, a Magic Jar and a Business Scrub Seed. Choose the seed and he says it “summons a friend of mine” for 30 rupees, the one seed price confirmed on screen. A chest later in the same dungeon holds a free seed.

Lost Woods as an adult

Cave scrub near the Sacred Grove

As an adult, take the cave at the end of the Lost Woods clearing before the flower that carries you to the Sacred Grove. The scrub inside sells a Recovery Heart, Three Recovery Hearts and a Magic Jar. Choose “See you later” and he says he will be here a while. The route is in Sacred Grove as an Adult.

The password scrub

The password

Late in the game, a scrub in a Hyrule Field grotto sells a Piece of Heart, but only if you know the password. As an adult, find the Fairy’s Thoughts in the field by a wall, in the dark. The three bubbles read “I did it! I finally made a purchase!”, then “‘Hard to believe ‘Ya makin’ money?’ and ‘Not too shabby!’ didn’t work…” and “That’s what it says!” Two phrases failed and one worked. The spot is on Fairy’s Thoughts.

Piece of Heart

Hyrule Field Heart Piece scrub

Return as a child, after the Master Sword. Leave Hyrule Castle Town for Hyrule Field, follow the grass bank beside the moat and drop into the round hole near the tower wall. The yellow flower platform carries you into a small green grotto. The scrub says “I’ll only sell you stuff if you know the password” and offers “Ya makin’ money?”, “Not too shabby!”, “Sell somethin’, will ya?” and “See you later.” Pick “Sell somethin’, will ya?” and he squeals “You got it, you got it! OK, take a look.”

His one item is a Piece of Heart, which he calls shimmery glimmery, for 100 rupees. Choose “I’ll buy!” and pay the 100 rupees. This is Heart Piece #34, and the box says two more add a heart. The full list is on Heart Piece Locations, and the route is in Last Heart Pieces and Gold Skulltulas.

The crater scrub

Death Mountain Crater Heart Piece scrub

As child Link, go to the southern part of Death Mountain Crater, near the cliffs where you climb down the net. Reflect the scrub’s shot back with the Deku Shield, then talk to it and buy Heart Piece #36 for 100 rupees. See Death Mountain Summit and Crater.

Business Scrub Seeds

Business Scrub Seed

Business Scrub Seed

The first one you find is a chest reward with the message “You can use this to summon a Business Scrub. It emits the overpowering scent of business.” Seeds are used up when you spend them, and the item menu shows a count that reads 6 after the Death Mountain Trail chest and 11 after the Ganondorf’s Castle chest. Use one and a wandering Business Scrub arrives, announces himself and shows his stock, so any spot, including a dungeon, becomes a shop. Seeds can also drop from supported amiibo along with other supplies.

Business Scrub Seed

Dodongo Cavern, lava pillar chest

Hop across the round platforms of the lava arena to the stone pillar and open the chest on top. It holds the first Business Scrub Seed in the game.

Business Scrub Seed

Dodongo Cavern, wooden cell

Climb the steps to the cracked wall at the top of the cavern, bomb it and open the chest in the wooden cell behind it for a second Business Scrub Seed.

Business Scrub Seed

Zora River, cave between the blue pillars

On the shelf between the two blue-tiled pillars above the waterfall, set a bomb on the ground to open a round hole. Follow the passage in the dark cave below to a chest with another seed. See Zora River and Zora Domain.

Business Scrub Seed

Sacred Grove, chest by the first Gossip Stone

Play the Song of Time at the blue door as an adult, and in the clearing beyond a wooden chest by the first Gossip Stone holds a seed. See Gossip Stones.

Business Scrub Seed

Death Mountain Trail, boulder cave

At night as an adult, smash the large round boulder beside a wooden arrow sign on Death Mountain Trail with the Megaton Hammer. The small cave behind it holds a chest with a seed, which brings your count to 6. The one before it is in a chest beside a Gossip Stone in the Crater cave, which made 5. See Double Magic and Death Mountain.

Business Scrub Seed

Shadow Temple, hidden path chest

On B3, equip the Hover Boots at the tablet that mentions the hidden path of the wind and float across the gap, with the Lenses of Truth up, to a chest holding a seed.

Business Scrub Seed

Mirage Desert, torch chest

In the red-lit room under the ruins, light an arrow at the lit torch and shoot it into the unlit torch across the room. A chest appears on the raised floor with a seed inside. See Mirage Desert and Evil Desert Colossus.

Business Scrub Seed

Gerudo Proving Grounds, plant room chest

Shoot or bomb the snapping plant in the room after the first plant fights and open the chest on the rug to get a seed. See Gerudo Proving Grounds.

Business Scrub Seed

Ganondorf’s Castle, Spirit barrier chest

Behind the green door after the Longshot room, the chest on the stone platform holds the last seed of the main quest. See Ganondorf’s Castle.
