| Unlocks | Malo Mart Castle Branch in Castle Town and the Magic Armor |
|---|---|
| Start | After you have the Master Sword: Gor Liggs and Gor Ebizo at Malo Mart, Kakariko Village |
| Donations | 1,000 Rupees for the bridge, then 200 Rupees for the shop (2,000 if you skip the bridge job) |
| Cost of the armor | 598 Rupees; the Hot Springwater delivery only changes the shop donation (200 instead of 2,000) |
| Total outlay | 1,798 Rupees (1,000 + 200 + 598); you need at least the Big Wallet to carry 598 |
| Bonus | 1 Piece of Heart from the revived Goron, cheaper bombs and potions, and a shortcut to the south of Hyrule Field |
To buy the Magic Armor you donate 1,000 Rupees at the Kakariko Malo Mart to repair the Castle Town west bridge, carry a barrel of Hot Springwater from Gor Liggs to the exhausted Goron on that bridge (he leaves a Piece of Heart), donate 200 Rupees more so Malo can take over the Castle Town emporium, and then buy the Magic Armor there for 598 Rupees. Without the water delivery, the second donation is 2,000 Rupees; the armor still costs 598. Directions use the Normal Mode layout. Hero Mode mirrors the world, so swap left and right and east and west.

Before you start
Chudley’s Emporium
As early as your first visit to Castle Town you can enter the snooty shop in the south-west of the Central Square, Chudley’s Fine Goods and Fancy Trinkets Emporium, if you pay the boy outside, Soal, 10 Rupees for a shoe shine. Inside, every price is absurd: even a Red Potion costs thousands, and the Magic Armor is listed at six figures, far more than the Colossal Wallet can carry. You cannot buy anything there. The whole quest exists to change that shop’s owner.

What you need
You need the Master Sword, which comes right after the Lakebed Temple, and a lot of Rupees. At least one Golden Bug given to Agitha earns the Big Wallet, which is mandatory because the armor costs 598 and the starting wallet holds only 500 in the HD version.

The Kakariko Malo Mart
Malo’s original shop in Kakariko Village sells a Red Potion (30 Rupees), a Wooden Shield (50), the Hylian Shield (200) and, once you have won Talo’s bow game after the Goron Mines, the Hawkeye (100). It is the only place that sells the Hawkeye and the Hylian Shield. After the Castle branch opens, Gor Ebizo and Gor Liggs dance happily inside and outside the shop.

Step 1: Repair the bridge (1,000 Rupees)
Gor Liggs and Gor Ebizo
Warp to Kakariko Village and walk to Malo Mart, the first building on the right. Gor Liggs waits outside and tells you that a bridge to Castle Town needs fixing. Go in and talk to Gor Ebizo, who is collecting donations for the Townspeople-Relief Plan Malo has drawn up to stop Castle Town shops gouging customers. The first goal is 1,000 Rupees for the west gate bridge.

Donate whatever you hold and come back as the money arrives; the total carries over. Fast sources of Rupees: hand your Golden Bugs to Agitha in Castle Town (50 Rupees for each bug, 100 for the second of a pair); finish the Poe collection so that Jovani‘s cat Gengle pays 200 Rupees on every visit; open dungeon chests you skipped when your wallet was full; and dig in the Dig Caverns and pick up the Rupees hidden along the Death Mountain trail.

Step 2: The Hot Springwater delivery
The tired Goron
Warp to Castle Town, leave by the west gate and cross the newly finished bridge into Hyrule Field. Go through the tunnel past a couple of Bulblins to the next part of the field, where the Goron who rebuilt the bridge sits worn out. He says a splash of hot springwater would revive him.

Gor Liggs’s barrel
Warp back to Kakariko Village and talk to Gor Liggs, still outside the Malo Mart. Accept his offer and you reappear at the edge of Hyrule Field holding a large barrel of Hot Springwater overhead. The water cools after about three minutes, so keep moving, but you are not in a mad rush. Follow the field edge by the gorge. If an enemy appears, set the barrel down (do not throw it), kill the enemy, then pick it back up.

At the bridge, stand a little way from the Goron, target him with Z and throw the barrel at him. He wakes up, rolls to Kakariko and back, and leaves a Piece of Heart behind. If the water is spoiled, return to Gor Liggs for another barrel; the delivery only counts if you finish it.

Step 3: Fund the Castle Town branch (200 Rupees)
The second donation
Go back to Malo Mart in Kakariko. Gor Ebizo now says Malo still needs 200 Rupees to take over Chudley’s emporium. Donate it. If you skipped the bridge job and the water, the amount is 2,000 Rupees instead. Once the sum is in, the shop becomes Malo Mart Castle Branch and the previous owner, Chudley, turns cheerful.

Hot Springwater for another Goron (optional)
In Castle Town, the Goron you revived now runs a stall on South Road selling Hot Springwater for 20 Rupees; bring an empty bottle. Hurry out of the south gate into Hyrule Field, go all the way down the stairs and straight ahead to find a Goron staring at a rock barricade. Give him the water and he starts breaking through. When he is done it opens a shortcut between this part of the field and the road to Faron Woods.

Step 4: Buy the Magic Armor
Malo Mart Castle Branch
Enter the new Malo Mart on the Castle Town Central Square. Chudley still stands behind the counter, now cheerful and dancing, and the prices are fair. Compare them with the Kakariko shop, where a Red Potion costs 30:

| Item | Price after the quest (Rupees) |
|---|---|
| Arrows (10) | 5 |
| Red Potion | 15 |
| Blue Potion | 50 |
| Bombs | 45 |
| Water Bombs | 45 |
| Bomblings | 30 |
| Malo Mart Stamp (Miiverse stamp, HD only) | 50 |
| Magic Armor | 598 |
Buy the Magic Armor. If you are short, carry on with the story, then return when your Big Wallet is nearly full. Chudley thanks you in actual words, one of the few times a character speaks.

Using the Magic Armor
How it works
Equip the armor and nothing can hurt you, whether it is an enemy, a trap or a hazard. The price is Rupees: it drains about 2 per second while worn and a larger bite for each hit you take (about 12). When your wallet is empty, the armor loses its color, becomes extremely heavy and moves you like the Iron Boots, sinking you in water, and you cannot ride Epona; if you run out while on Epona, she throws you off. Take it off before your wallet empties.

It shines in the Cave of Ordeals (the Darknut floors 39 and 49 especially), in the final dungeons, and for the rough bosses. A full Giant Wallet doubles as an extra health bar. The Heart Piece from the Goron is one of the 45 listed on the Heart Piece Locations page.
