Clock Town, Termina Field & Romani Ranch – The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask Walkthrough

With the Ocarina of Time recovered, the Song of Healing learned, and Link back in his normal form, you can spend this cycle collecting permanent upgrades before heading to the Southern Swamp. This route covers five masks, six Pieces of Heart, the Adult Wallet, the Big Bomb Bag, the Bombers’ Notebook on Nintendo 64, two area maps, and the first Empty Bottle.

The steps follow the Nintendo 64 version, including the N64 release available through Nintendo Switch Online. Differences in Majora’s Mask 3D are noted where they change the route.

Clock Town: Masks, Heart Pieces, and Wallet

Start the new cycle in Clock Town. Play the Inverted Song of Time to slow the clock and give yourself more time for the collection route. In South Clock Town, activate the Owl Statue near the Clock Tower by striking it with your sword.

The Inverted Song of Time note staff while Link plays the Ocarina of Time.

Get the Great Fairy’s Mask in Clock Town

The Song of Time has scattered the Great Fairy again. During the day, find the Stray Fairy floating over the water in the Laundry Pool. At night, it moves to East Clock Town, where Deku Link can reach it using the nearby flower.

Carry the Stray Fairy to the Great Fairy Fountain in North Clock Town and enter as normal Link. The restored Great Fairy gives you the Great Fairy’s Mask, which helps locate and attract Stray Fairies in the game’s four main temples.

Heart Piece #2: North Clock Town

Before leaving North Clock Town, climb onto the stone structures beside the playground slide. From the top of the slide, jump into the nearby tree branches and collect the Piece of Heart.

Moons Tear Majora's Mask Item

Reach the Astral Observatory and Get a Second Moon’s Tear

Return to East Clock Town and enter the Bombers’ underground hideout using the password you learned during the opening cycle. The code is unique to your save file. If you have forgotten it, speak with the Bombers again to get it.

Follow the sewer passage toward the Astral Observatory. Change into Deku Link and use a bubble to pop the balloon blocking the way. At the Observatory, look through the telescope and focus on Skull Kid atop the Clock Tower. After the scene, go outside and pick up the Moon’s Tear. Take the passage back to Clock Town.

Majora's Mask Bombers Notebook Official Art

Get the Bombers’ Notebook

On N64, remove the Deku Mask before leaving the Bombers’ passage. When Link emerges in his normal form, Jim stops him and gives him the Bombers’ Notebook, which records residents’ schedules and side quests.

Majora’s Mask 3D difference: The Bombers’ Notebook is given to you earlier in the 3DS version, so you do not need to obtain it here. Continue to collect the Moon’s Tear for the trading sequence.

Town Title Deed Majora's Mask Item

Trade the Moon’s Tear for the Land Title Deed

Take the Moon’s Tear to the yellow Deku Flower in South Clock Town. The Business Scrub appears when you approach. Trade the Moon’s Tear for the Land Title Deed.

Keep the deed for the nighttime quest at the Stock Pot Inn. This route uses it there, leaving the Southern Swamp deed trade for a later cycle.

Adults Wallet Majora's Mask Item

Earn the Adult Wallet from the Clock Town Bank

Use the remaining daylight to build your bank balance to 200 Rupees. You can gather Rupees in Termina Field by cutting bushes, rolling into the tree near the Astral Observatory, and opening the chest in the tall grass at the southern end of the field. Return to the bank when your wallet is nearly full and deposit your Rupees. Once your total deposits reach 200, the banker gives you the Adult Wallet, which holds up to 200 Rupees.

On N64, the bank is in West Clock Town. In Majora’s Mask 3D, it is beside the Clock Tower in South Clock Town.

Be back in Clock Town before midnight. The next mask depends on an event that happens at exactly 12:00 a.m.

First Night in Clock Town: Blast Mask, Kamaro’s Mask, and Heart Pieces

Stop Sakon and Get the Blast Mask

Wait in North Clock Town shortly before midnight on the First Night. At 12:00 a.m., the Old Lady from the Bomb Shop enters from the north carrying a sack. Sakon steals it and runs around the square. Chase him and hit him with your sword as soon as control returns.

The Old Lady gives you the Blast Mask as thanks. Saving her also changes the Bomb Shop’s stock for the rest of the cycle. The Blast Mask works as a reusable explosive and counts toward mask completion.

Majora's Mask Kamaro's Mask Model

Heal Kamaro and Get Kamaro’s Mask

After stopping the robbery, leave Clock Town through the north gate. Kamaro appears after midnight in northern Termina Field, near the mushroom-shaped rock formations northwest of the entrance. Listen for the music and look for the ghostly dancer standing on one of the rocks.

Speak to Kamaro and play the Song of Healing on your Ocarina. His spirit is put to rest, and he leaves behind Kamaro’s Mask.

Heart Piece #3: Trade the Land Title Deed for a Stock Pot Inn Piece of Heart

After midnight, enter the Stock Pot Inn in East Clock Town. If the front door is closed, become Deku Link, use the Deku Flower outside, and glide onto the upper overhang to reach the second-story entrance.

Go downstairs and follow the corridor to the bathroom. A hand reaches out of the toilet asking for paper. Give it the Land Title Deed to receive a Piece of Heart.

Majora's Mask Bremen Mask Model

Get the Bremen Mask from Guru-Guru

On the First or Second Night, visit the Laundry Pool as normal Link. Talk to Guru-Guru, the musician from the Gorman Troupe, and listen to his story about his former animal troupe. He gives you the Bremen Mask.

You will use this mask at Romani Ranch to collect another mask.

Heart Piece #4: Help the Rosa Sisters

On the First or Second Night, go to West Clock Town while wearing Kamaro’s Mask. The Rosa Sisters are practicing their dance. Stand in front of them and perform Kamaro’s dance. They learn the routine and reward you with a Piece of Heart.

Heart Piece #5: Swordsman’s School

Keep at least 5 Rupees after buying the Big Bomb Bag, then visit the Swordsman’s School at the north end of West Clock Town. Choose the expert course and aim for a perfect score.

Z-target each log as it rises and use a jump attack. Each successful jump attack earns three points. Hit all ten logs for 30 points to receive a Piece of Heart.

Heart Piece #6: Defeat the Dodongos in Northern Termina Field

Go to the snowy northern area of Termina Field, where the large mushroom-shaped rocks stand. On the western side, look for a grotto entrance beside the base of a large mushroom. Drop inside to find two Dodongos.

Use Bombs from a safe distance and focus on one Dodongo at a time. Each enemy drops a Purple Rupee. Once both are defeated, a chest appears in the center of the grotto with a Piece of Heart.

Heart Piece #7: Defeat the Peahat for a Termina Field

Head to the Milk Road entrance in southwest Termina Field. Look for butterflies over a patch of tall grass just before the entrance and walk beneath them to fall into a hidden grotto.

Fight the Peahat during daylight. At night it stays rooted and cannot be fought normally. During the day, target it and keep your shield ready. Wait for its underside to become vulnerable, then attack with your sword. Defeating it reveals a chest containing a Piece of Heart.

Romani Ranch: Get the Bunny Hood

Buy the Romani Ranch Map from Tingle

Before entering Milk Road, deposit any Rupees you do not want to lose and keep at least 20 Rupees for Tingle. Enter Milk Road from southwest Termina Field and activate the Owl Statue. On N64, strike it with your sword. On 3DS, interact with it directly.

Tingle is floating above the road. Become Deku Link, pop his balloon with a bubble, and buy the Romani Ranch Map for 20 Rupees. Leave the nearby Takkuri alone; defeating it is not needed for this route.

Enter Romani Ranch on the Final Day

At this point, a boulder blocks the entrance to Romani Ranch, and you do not yet have a Powder Keg to remove it. Advance to the Final Day, when a worker has cleared the road, then enter the ranch.

Majora's Mask Bunny Hood Model

March with the Cuccos to Get the Bunny Hood

Go to the Cucco Shack at the rear of the ranch and speak with Grog, who is standing among the chicks. Put on the Bremen Mask and march around the pen, touching each of the ten chicks so they join the line behind you.

Keep marching as the chicks grow into adult Cuccos. When all ten have grown, Grog gives you the Bunny Hood. It counts toward mask completion and increases Link’s running speed, which will help with timed tasks and with following the monkey through the Woods of Mystery.

Reset the Cycle After Collecting the Bunny Hood

Deposit any Rupees you want to keep, then play the Song of Time to return to the Dawn of the First Day. At this point in the route, you should have 7 of 52 Pieces of Heart, 6 of 24 masks, and no bottles.
