“Daruk, the Goron Hero” sends you up Death Mountain to reach Vah Rudania. You help the Goron Captains, capture the mountain’s outposts, defeat Igneo Taluses on the way up, and then pilot Vah Rudania down the slopes against a huge wave of monsters. Clearing it unlocks Daruk as a playable warrior.

Before you start

The recommended level is Lv 5, and you must have cleared “Road to the Ancient Lab” first. Cook a meal that raises Movement Speed, since Death Mountain is large. The enemies here are fire-based, so ice attacks are effective against them. See combat and controls for the Weak-Point Gauge basics.

Death Mountain outposts

Help the Goron Captains

The battle opens at the foot of the mountain when a Goron Captain warns Daruk that monsters are attacking. Fight toward the marked Goron Captains and defeat the Moblin that appears first. Helping the captains clears the way toward the outposts.

Capture the three outposts

Next, split up and capture the three outposts marked on the map. Use the Change Character prompt to head for whichever one is under the most pressure. Protect the Southern Mine above all: the battle is lost if the mine falls, or if Link or Daruk flees.

Igneo Talus, a lava-cracked rock boss, appears with a New Objective prompt on Death Mountain

Igneo Talus boss fight

With the outposts captured, the objective sends you to the northernmost part of the mountain to defeat an Igneo Talus. Stay clear of the boulders it throws.

Link faces an Igneo Talus under the Defeat the Igneo Talus banner

Keep attacking until the Weak-Point Gauge appears, empty it, and press Y when the Flurry Rush prompt shows up. Once the Talus is down, the way up the mountain opens.

Climb Death Mountain and the bridge

Go up the mountain and defeat the Fire Moblins guarding the bridge. Afterward Daruk rolls into the bridge and slams it down, giving access to the rest of the mountain. Cross it and keep climbing.

Near the summit you face another Igneo Talus and a Fire Wizzrobe. Use the same approach as before, and hit the Wizzrobe while it is charging. Afterward Daruk decides to pilot Vah Rudania.

Vah Rudania battle

In the next stage, Daruk pilots Vah Rudania down the mountain. Use ZR for the basic attack, charge up for stronger hits, and press A for the special attack once the gauge is full. The objective is to defeat the monsters of Death Mountain, including Fire Wizzrobes and Igneo Taluses.

Monsters keep arriving on Death Mountain while you fight with Vah Rudania; defeat the last ones to end the battle. This stage has its own Battle Record, which shows a clear time of 04:08 and 3,801 KOs. See divine beasts for more on Vah Rudania.

Death Mountain Korok Seeds

The spots below point you to each area. Search the rocks and stumps around the marked spot, since Koroks sit in small hiding places.

Korok Seed

Friendly outpost at the start

At the start, run toward the green-roofed Goron camp past the mushroom stools. A Korok rises from a green glow on the open rock in front of the camp.

Korok Seed

Southeast outpost

Capture the outpost in the far southeast. Then check the cracked stone ground beside the outpost’s rock wall for a Korok in a green glow.

Korok Seed

Central outpost

Capture the outpost to the north through its east gate. Check the rocky ground just past the gate, beside the boulders, for a Korok in a green glow.

Korok Seed

Canyon floor by the lava river

Defeat the Moblins to the south, then search the rocky canyon floor beside the lava river for a Korok in a green glow.

Korok Seed

Wooden crate on the climb

On the climb up Death Mountain, check beside the wooden crate on the left side of the path, where a Korok with an orange face stands.

Korok Seed

Hot springs

In the hot spring area, look beside the red arrow sign. A red Korok sits on the white rock next to it.

Korok Seed

Rock wall past the long wooden bridge

After you capture the last outpost and defeat the first Igneo Talus, go south along the western path and cross the long wooden bridge. On the far side, check the rock wall on the right of the path for a yellow Korok.

Korok Seed

Glowing dirt past the lowered bridge

After the Fire Moblins fall and Daruk lowers the bridge, cross it and check the right side for glowing dirt where a Korok hides.
