The Yiga Clan’s Retreat is the seventh of the eight Expansion Pass memory battles. You escort Master Kohga and Sooga out of a burning Yiga camp, cut through a long line of Moblins and Wizzrobes, and finish by beating all four Blight Ganons. Sooga becomes playable once you replay the fight, and the battle carries three Memory Quests.

Before you start

The battle is recommended at Lv 53 and opens only after the six EX story battles before it are complete; the Chapters list shows all six marked COMPLETE before this battle is selected. You are locked into Master Kohga, so no warrior choice is needed, but the battle is lost if Kohga or Sooga flees, so a few healing meals and a stocked Sheikah Slate help. Bring a weapon with a strong Weak-Point Smash for the four Blight Ganons; check the Memory Quests panel on the Hyrule map before you start so you know what the battle expects from you. See the Expansion Pass page for how the memory battles are unlocked.

Escaping the Yiga camp

Head for the targeted position

You start in the camp with Sooga at your side and Kohga demanding that everyone stay together. Your first objective is to head for the targeted position alongside Sooga. Keep pressing along the road and clear the crowd in front of you instead of stopping to explore, because the objective card warns that the battle ends if Master Kohga or Sooga flees.

The first named enemy on the road is the Fire Moblin; defeat it when the objective appears. A Thunder Wizzrobe follows soon after, so stay mobile and use your Runes or a quick Weak-Point Smash to shut its magic down before it hits your allies.

Yiga allies and the Moblin line

A Yiga Blademaster and a Yiga Captain join you after the Wizzrobe falls. They fight on their own but can be overwhelmed, and a banner warns you when one of them is in a difficult battle. Run to them and clear the enemies around them before the allies flee.

An Electric Moblin and a Silver Moblin come next, one after the other. Break each Weak-Point Gauge with a Weak-Point Smash and keep moving up the road. Soon a Malice Moblin appears; it hits harder than the others, so dodge its swings and finish it with a smash while Kohga and Sooga hold the line behind you.

After the Malice Moblin you are asked to defeat an Ice Moblin. Keep Kohga close, use fire to melt the ice, and defeat it before moving on.

Defeat the Hollows

The next objective is to defeat the Hollows, with a counter that starts at 0 of 3 and rises to 2 of 4 as more of them arrive. Fight them close to your allies so that none of them is cut off. A Yiga Blademaster is still pinned behind a closed gate earlier on the map, and once the Hollows have appeared you can go back and free that Blademaster, which matters for the third Memory Quest.

Another Silver Moblin, a Silver Lynel and a Blizzrobe block the road after the Hollows. Stun the Lynel with a Special Attack or a rod if you can, hit its gauge, and clear the Blizzrobe quickly so its ice magic does not freeze your allies. Sooga then says “We must find a different way out.”, and the objective changes to heading for the next Targeted Position.

Blight Ganon boss fights

Windblight Ganon

Windblight Ganon appears first on the new route, so push through to it before your Yiga allies are worn down. It fires rapid projectiles, so keep moving sideways while it is at range. When it closes in, use a Perfect Dodge and then a Flurry Rush, and spend your Weak-Point Smash once its gauge is down.

Thunderblight Ganon

Thunderblight Ganon appears next, with plenty of regular enemies around it. It dashes and spins, then fires orbs; Perfect Dodge the spins, then punish with a Flurry Rush. When it splits into several copies, dodge their attacks and throw bombs or use area attacks until the real one is exposed.

Several Thunderblight Ganon copies appear in a blue electric blast, each with a name tag

Fireblight Ganon and Waterblight Ganon

Near the exit Fireblight Ganon appears first, then Waterblight Ganon, and the objective changes to defeating both. Fireblight is slower, and ice works well against it. Waterblight is weak to fire. Watch the large white markers on the ground and move out of them, because both bosses use area attacks that can hit your allies.

Sooga uses this stretch to make a stand and shield Kohga, and says “I will make my stand here!” On a replay of the battle the game then announces “You can now play as Sooga!”; on your first clear it ends with Sooga saying he can go no further and no banner appears. If you take control on a replay, use his Unswerving Counter Stance (a ZR action) against the Blight Ganons: each counter makes the next one stronger, so a well-timed counter against Fireblight or Waterblight does heavy damage. Defeat both Blight Ganons to end the battle.

Memory Quests

The first Memory Quest, “Defeat every Blight Ganon”, is cleared by beating Windblight, Thunderblight, Fireblight and Waterblight Ganon during the battle. It is the easiest of the three and finishes naturally as you win. It pays 1 Report: Hidden Battles, 20 Raw Prime Meat and 20 Raw Bird Thigh.

The second Memory Quest, “Successfully use a Sheikah Rune counter against a Blight Ganon”, needs one clean counter with a Sheikah Slate Rune during any Blight Ganon fight. Watch for the on-screen prompt when a boss begins a heavy attack and answer it with the matching Rune. It pays 1 Report: Hidden Battles, 10 Opal, 20 Mighty Bananas and 2,000 Rupees.

The third Memory Quest is hidden as “???” until you meet its condition and reads “Don’t let any ally flee”. Watch for the banner that warns when an ally is in a difficult battle, help the Yiga Blademaster and Captain whenever it appears, and free the trapped Blademaster at the closed gate once the Hollows appear. It pays 3 Reports: Hidden Battles, 5 Diamond and 2,000 Rupees.
