The Demon Lord is the fourth scenario of Cia’s Tale and takes place on Skyloft. You open the fight as a fake ally of the Skyloft defenders, help them beat Ghirahim and the giant beast The Imprisoned, then turn on them and finish Fi. You win by clearing those objectives, and you lose if your Allied Base falls. Clearing it opens the last scenario of the arc, Darkness Falls.

Before you start

Bring Cia for the main fight; Volga and Wizzro take part in the story too. Pick a weapon with a strong crowd-clearing combo, because both armies are made of many small soldiers, and one that deals solid damage to a Weak Point Gauge for the giant boss. If you want both collectibles, plan a second visit: the Piece of Heart needs Cia and the Heart Container needs Volga.

Win the Skyloft keeps with the defenders

Gain the trust of Skyloft

Start by capturing the Central Square Keep or the Southern Rockface Keep; either one earns the islanders’ confidence. Volga then offers his help to the Skyloft captains, which joins the two armies against Ghirahim’s forces. Keep moving between keeps and clear the stalchildren and stalmasters around each, since more allied keeps means a safer base.

Defeat Ghirahim

Ghirahim sends part of his army from the west toward your Allied Base and goes with it. Intercept him with Cia and defeat him, and he pulls back. Leave the western troops alone for too long and your base takes damage, so deal with that push before heading anywhere else.

The Imprisoned boss fight

After Ghirahim pulls back, go after The Imprisoned. Stay near its feet and destroy all eight toes. When the last one breaks, the beast crashes down and its Weak Point Gauge appears. Hit it with everything you have until the gauge empties, then finish with a Weak Point Smash. Avoid standing under its stomping feet, which send out shock waves, and back away when it flares a brief force field around itself. Once it is down to about half health its steps carry an electric shock wave, and it sometimes follows three normal steps with a smaller, quicker one, so keep your distance after the third step.

Betray Skyloft and defeat Fi

Once The Imprisoned is down, Ghirahim returns and offers to join Cia. From that moment the Skyloft forces become your enemy. Fi retreats to the Rogue Base and the Skyloft keeps open and pour out reinforcements. Capture the keeps on the map to cut off their supply and drain their morale; Fi weakens as the last keeps fall. Keep an eye on the Allied Base while you do it, since the Skyloft captains use the distraction to march toward it.

When the final keep is yours, rush into the Rogue Base with Cia and defeat Fi to win the scenario.

This one is easy and appears on any difficulty once you have defeated 1,000 enemies. Look north of the Southern Rockface Keep, where it sits behind a Wall of Vines.

Gold Skulltula

Gold Skulltula for nine keeps in 10 minutes

This one needs Hard or Hero difficulty, and it only appears after you clear all 32 Legend Mode scenarios. Play as Volga and capture nine keeps in under 10 minutes. The Gold Skulltula then shows up north of the West Town Keep. Move fast and skip the optional fights between keeps.

Play as Volga. The Heart Container sits underneath a boulder just west of the Rogue Base. Blow up the boulder with a bomb to get it.
