The Other Hero is the closing scenario of Linkle’s Tale. Linkle finally reaches Hyrule Castle just as the leftovers of Ganondorf’s army attack it again, and you must rescue the Hylian Captains, take the keeps, defeat a horde of monsters and finish off King Dodongo while keeping the Castle Keep from falling. Impa becomes playable partway through, and the scenario holds a Heart Container, a Piece of Heart and two Gold Skulltulas.

Before you start
You begin as Linkle, and a few minutes in the message You can now play as Impa! appears, so plan for the Heart Container, which needs her. Bring the strongest weapon you own and a few healing items, since the Castle Keep is what you lose on if things go wrong. This scenario opens once you have cleared Her True Self and Liberation of the Triforce.
Rescue the Hylian Captains
Open with the captain duels
Monsters are attacking Hylian Captains around Hyrule Field when the battle starts, and the objective reads Defeat the monsters attacking the Hylian Captains. Run to each fight and defeat the monsters so the Hylian Captain survives; a banner tells you the Hylian Captain is rescued, and the captain leaves an item such as a Heart or a Magic Jar behind. Then move on to the next. Rescuing every one of them is also the condition for the Hard-difficulty Gold Skulltula, so keep count and do not leave one behind.
Keep the Castle Keep safe
Defeat is the fall of the Castle Keep, so do not stay away from it for long. Capture the field keeps as you pass them; later the objective asks you to capture the North Field and Mountain Keeps. Return toward the castle whenever the minimap shows enemy markers closing in on it. Once Impa is unlocked, switch to her when you want her to take a stretch of the field, then back to Linkle for the Piece of Heart.
Finishing the battle
With the captains rescued and the keeps held, Fire-Breathing King Dodongo arrives with a horde of monsters and the banner Victory conditions have changed appears. The objective cycles through defeating the powerful monsters and the horde of monsters, and a message tells you Linkle’s compass has weakened King Dodongo. Defeat the horde, then King Dodongo, to win.
The Other Hero Gold Skulltulas
Defeat 1000 enemies
This one is available on any difficulty. Defeat 1000 enemies in the battle and the banner A Gold Skulltula has appeared on the battlefield shows. Look outside the north wall of the empty area east of the Castle Keep, and go straight there: if you wait too long, the banner The Gold Skulltula has fled tells you it is gone. Special attacks into the big groups of enemies get you to 1000 quickly.
Rescue every Hylian Captain
This one needs Hard or Hero difficulty, so you can come back on Hard right away, or later in Hero Mode, which opens after you clear all 32 Legend Mode scenarios. Play as Linkle and rescue all of the Hylian Captains, then check the dead end north of the East Field Keep. See the Gold Skulltula locations page for the rest of the game.
Heart Container and Piece of Heart
Heart Container
Once the message You can now play as Impa! has appeared, switch to her and head to the W. Rockface Keep. The Heart Container sits underneath a boulder to the northwest of that keep, and you must be playing as Impa to take it.
Piece of Heart
Play as Linkle and capture the West Field Keep. The Piece of Heart is there in a chest; a Chest sighted banner shows up on the keep, and opening it gives the You got a piece of heart message. For every Heart Container and Piece in the game, see Heart Containers and Pieces of Heart.
