RewardsFire spell (1); Attack level 6 and Magic level 6 (2 level-ups); 500 P-Bag (1). No Heart Containers, Magic Containers, Link Dolls or crystals are in this chapter.

This stretch takes you from the eastern desert into Nabooru, where you learn the Fire spell from a teacher in a town basement. You then cross grass and desert, collect a 500 P-Bag in a sandstone cave and reach Magic level 6 on the way to Darunia. Attack level 6 comes just as you leave the island behind.

You arrive here by Raft. Sail from the dock just south of Mido Town to the dock in East Hyrule. The towns in this half of the game check your magic meter before their wizards teach you, so you need at least one of the extra Magic Containers (a five-block meter) for Fire. If a wizard turns you away, he is telling you to come back with more containers. Two optional detours near the landing are worth it: the forest tile south of the dock holds a 200 EXP P-Bag, and a fairy has her home on the left side of the lake nearby.

Eastern desert to Nabooru

Leave the island and cross the desert

Once you have finished the island, follow the path east over the desert sand, where a whirlwind and red bubble enemies drift across the ground. Your Attack level rises to 6 as you leave the island, and the sword stays at that level from then on.

Pass the sandstone cave and graveyard

Enter the sandstone cave with brown walls and a sand floor, then climb the stepped ledges toward the far side. A blue enemy waits near the bottom left. You leave the cave into a graveyard with purple sky, grey tombstones and white crosses, where a brown bird-like enemy attacks from the right.

Continue east past the graveyard and across the green field, where a blue lake lies to the left. A grey stone pillar stands in the grass beyond it, with cyan spiky enemies and orange orbs nearby. The path bends toward a village at the edge of the field.

Reach the edge of Nabooru

At the village edge, a blank sign and a few bushes mark the approach. Walk up to the olive-brick house with the gold door and windows, where a brown-robed townsperson and a purple-robed townsperson stand at the door. The fountain that opens the way to the Fire spell is inside the town.

Nabooru: the fountain and the Fire spell

Find the fountain and the thirsty woman

Enter Nabooru past the white fountain statue, where a purple-robed townsperson stands at the left. Olive and grey houses line the streets, and most doors open into small rooms with benches and crates. The woman in the red dress lives in one of these houses, and she is the one who leads to the Fire spell.

Take water from the fountain to the left of her house (the thirsty woman lives right next to it), then talk to her. She lets you into her house, and from there you go down into the basement.

Learn Fire in the basement

In the basement, a blue-brick room with teal walls, an old man in a brown robe holding a staff teaches you the Fire spell. Once the lesson ends, Fire appears in your magic list.

At Magic level 5, Fire costs 16 MP, the same as one Magic Container, and it lets your sword shoot flames at range. The full list of spells and their costs at each level is in the spells guide.

Grass, caves and desert on the way to Darunia

Clear the grass past Nabooru

Leave Nabooru to the east through grass with grey pillars. Two cyan ghosts and red orbs float in the sky, so use your new shot on them as they approach. Each kill adds experience, and the counter at the bottom of the screen climbs with every group you clear.

Take the 500 P-Bag in the sandstone cave

The cave due south of Nabooru, beside the River Devil that blocks the road to the south, holds a 500 P-Bag. Cast Fire for the two Tektites on the first screen, then deal with a Skettlar on the next screen: it can only be hurt while its eye is open, and a Downward Thrust works at that moment. The bag waits at the back of the cave. Once you collect it, the next-level counter jumps by 500 at once, and the bag is listed in the P-Bags guide.

Reach Magic level 6 in the desert

Past the cave, the road runs through a desert with cacti under a purple sky. Keep defeating the cyan enemies and gold ring enemies on the sand. Magic reaches level 6 in the desert, just after the grass cliffs at its edge. Magic 6 costs 2,200 EXP, as the experience and levels guide lists.

Finish the road toward Darunia

Continue across the desert and the grass ledges, watching for the red orb enemies that appear in the caves. In a dark green cave on the way you meet two red orb enemies, and the next-level counter keeps rising as you clear them. Keep going east over the pink sand until the overhead map shows the next town ahead.

Stay on the grass ledges and cross the water edge toward the next town on the road. Darunia is the next stop after this stretch.
