RewardsRaft (key item), third crystal, several small keys, 3 red Magic Jars, 3 P-Bags (100 experience each); no Heart Container, Magic Container or Link Doll is listed for this palace

This chapter takes you from the sand desert and the King’s Tomb graveyard, through a sandstone tunnel, and into Island Palace. Inside the palace you collect the Raft, several keys, Magic Jars and P-Bags, then defeat Rebonack and place the third crystal. The shortest route is south from the tomb, down a hole, and across a ledge that you clear with the Fairy spell.

King’s Tomb tunnel to Island Palace

Cross the desert and sea coast

If you want to heal first, Mido Town is close by, and a boulder on the dirt path there can be broken with the Hammer. The graveyard around King’s Tomb is full of tough encounters; the squares next to the tomb count as road, so they are safe. From the town, head south across the sand desert and follow the sea coast, where brown bird-like enemies fly overhead. By the coast your sword has reached level 5, which you can read at the top left of the screen.

Walk through the graveyard to King’s Tomb

Continue south into the graveyard, a field of grey tombstones and white crosses under a purple sky. Brown bird-like enemies drift among the graves. The entrance to King’s Tomb is between two blue stone statues at the top of a flight of blue steps, with a robed figure standing near it.

From the tomb entrance, walk south and drop into the hole in the ground. Strike downward as you land, using the Downward Thrust you learned in Mido Town, and then continue into the tunnel.

Cross the sandstone tunnel with Fairy

The tunnel is a sandstone cave with a stepped floor, cyan spiked enemies and small brown creatures. Keep moving along it and climb the steps as they rise.

A tall ledge on the right blocks the way out of the tunnel. Cast the Fairy spell so that Link can float up and over it. Beyond the ledge, head northwest toward the palace under a purple sky.

Palace 3: Island Palace

Entrance and the first elevator

Inside, the palace is built from dark red bricks and columns, and its rooms hold armored knights, white skeletons and bursts of flame on the floor. Expect Iron Knuckles in the palace as well.

Strike the Iron Knuckle statue at the entrance to get a red Magic Jar. Sometimes the statue releases a red Iron Knuckle instead, so be ready to fight.

Take the first elevator down. A second red Magic Jar sits in a statue head beside the elevator, and you need the Jump spell to reach it.

Raft

Keys, Iron Knuckles and the Raft

The palace holds several small keys for its locked doors. The first key is buried under stone blocks, so combine the Downward Thrust with the Handy Glove to dig it out. One key sits at the far end of an open-air room guarded by a Fire Moa and a red Iron Knuckle, so defeat them before you collect it. Another is stuck in a wall of blocks in a room full of floating Mau heads that drain your EXP, so break in and out quickly.

Break the brick wall and use the lava to clear one Iron Knuckle. Then defeat the red and blue Iron Knuckles that stand in your way to open the path toward the Raft.

The Raft is in a room behind a left-hand door. That door unlocks only after you beat the blue Iron Knuckle. The Raft lets you sail from the dock just south of Mido Town to East Hyrule.

Backtrack past the second elevator

Backtrack past the first elevator and a red Iron Knuckle, then go through the next locked door. Under the bricks on the left, past the second elevator, you will find another key.

Past the second elevator, a P-Bag rests on a platform that you can only reach with the Jump spell. Another red Magic Jar sits in a statue head past the same elevator, so collect it on the way.

Myu room, maze room and P-Bags

After the room with a Myu and a Doomknocker, drop through the bricks with a Downward Thrust to reach a P-Bag. This is one of the three P-Bags in the palace.

The lower level of the maze room holds the last P-Bag, but you only reach it if you break every brick in the way. Each of the three P-Bags in this palace is worth 100 experience. Read more about the bags on the P-Bags page.

Maze room and Rebonack

Take the elevator down into the maze room and cross it to reach the boss at the far end.

Rebonack is a blue Iron Knuckle riding a floating mechanical horse with a lance. Strike the horse’s head with a Downward Thrust as it charges at you; you do not need to empty its life bar before the rider is bucked off. After it dismounts, fight Rebonack like a blue Iron Knuckle, and wait out the flurry of sword beams it fires right after it dismounts. You can read more about the boss on the bosses page.

Once Rebonack is defeated, place the third crystal in the statue on the stepped purple pedestal near the boss area. Then leave the palace to the right. Read more about crystals on the palaces and crystals page.
