CoversMt. Crenel (Melari’s beanstalk, Grayblade’s dojo, Mole Mitts caves), Hyrule Town market, Trilby Highlands, Western Wood, Minish Woods, Minish Village, Eastern Hills, Castor Wilds, Wind Ruins, South Hyrule Field and Lake Hylia
DungeonNone: this is the second half of the collecting block, finishing at Lake Hylia before the Temple of Droplets
Rewards10 Pieces of Heart (three of them complete Heart Containers), 15 Kinstone fusions, Roll Attack and Peril Beam (Tiger Scrolls), faster Great Spin Attack charge, Bigger Quiver, 200 rupees and 50 rupees in chests, 20 Mysterious Shells, White Picolyte, a golden Tektite spawned on Mt. Crenel, and about a dozen Kinstone pieces

This stretch has no dungeon. You sweep the map for everything the Flippers, the Mole Mitts and the Four Sword’s split-Link switches now let you reach: three completed Heart Containers, two sword dojos, fusions that open chests and beanstalks, and the Bigger Quiver. It begins on the summit of Mt. Crenel, loops through Hyrule Town, Trilby Highlands, the Minish Woods and Village, the Eastern Hills, Castor Wilds and South Hyrule Field, and finishes at Lake Hylia, from where you walk on to the Temple of Droplets.

Mt. Crenel summit and Grayblade’s dojo

Melari’s beanstalk

The fusion you made with Melari, the Minish smith, in his forge has made a beanstalk sprout on the Mt. Crenel summit. Melari says the pieces made a perfect fit, so step outside and climb the mountain past the stone with the music note on it.

Grayblade’s dojo: block switches and the first Heart Piece

Climb the rock walls on the east side of the mountain (you need the Grip Ring) and enter the mine-shaft door of Grayblade’s dojo. In the puzzle room beyond it, use the White Sword (Two Elements) to split Link into several copies, then stand on the coloured switches so the blocks sink and let you cross. The pedestal in the dojo hall holds a Piece of Heart. The message says you now have three and need one more.

A chest in the corner of the dojo hall holds 50 rupees. Open it before you talk to Grayblade.

Fusion with Grayblade

Grayblade fuses with a red Kinstone piece. When the halves fit, a cutscene shows the waterfall in the north-east of Castor Wilds, where a cave opens in the cliff behind the falls. That is Scarblade’s dojo, which you visit later in this chapter.

Roll Attack training

Speak to Grayblade again and accept his training. He explains the technique one step at a time (the last step is to swing the sword), then asks you to switch, stop and roll on his word. Do as he says, and he teaches you the Roll Attack and gives you its Tiger Scroll, so you can read it again if you forget the moves. You can now roll with the roll button. See Tiger Scrolls for all eight.

Mt. Crenel beanstalk, Mole Mitts cave and Mysterious Wall

Beanstalk to the cloud: the fourth piece

Climb the ladders and rocky paths up to the summit. Spiny Beetles walk the ledges, and you can roll through the narrow gaps. Climb the beanstalk at the edge of the summit to reach a cloud ringed by eight red rupees. Collect them, then take the Piece of Heart from the pedestal. It completes a Heart Container and refills your hearts. See Beanstalk locations for the others.

Mole Mitts cave: a new Piece of Heart

Back on the ground, take the ladder to the left and follow the sand tunnels near the Crenel Hermit’s cave. Equip the Mole Mitts and dig through the sand, past the enemy that drops bombs, to a pedestal with a Piece of Heart. This is the first piece of a new set of four.

Mysterious Wall and the fourth Goron

Just beyond the heart pedestal, a Mysterious Wall stands in the cave. Fuse a blue Kinstone piece with it. A cutscene shows the Gorons in their cave chipping a rock wall. They say they smell delicious stones, and a fourth Goron arrives to help dig. Each wall brings another Goron; see the Goron quest for the full count and the chest they guard.

Warp to Hyrule Town

Walk back to the Wind Crest at Mt. Crenel, play the Ocarina of Wind, and answer yes to travel to Hyrule Town.

Hyrule Town market, Trilby Highlands and Percy

White Picolyte

In the Hyrule Town market, talk to the blond stall owner. His White Picolyte costs 100 rupees, and he pours it into an empty bottle. The Picolyte is used up when you spend it, so buy a fresh dose now, because it makes Kinstone pieces drop from grass much more often.

Kinstone pieces in the Trilby Highlands grass

Cross the bridge by the river and go north into Trilby Highlands. Walk across the brown, lucky-looking patches in the tall grass and cut them, fighting off the Moblins that come at you. Two blue Kinstone pieces drop in quick succession. Use it in the biggest field you can find.

Fusion with Percy (red)

Percy, a poet with a blue cap, stands among the trees at the edge of the grass. Fuse a red piece with his red piece and a fallen tree in the area stands upright again, clearing the way to his house.

Walk through Western Wood to Percy’s orange-roofed house. He accuses you of breaking in while he was away and recites his verse.

Fusion with Percy (green)

Fuse a green piece with Percy at his door. A cutscene shows the Minish Woods from above: a chest appears on a bushy ledge in the forest. Percy then recites another verse.

Back to Trilby Highlands for another Kinstone piece

Use the Wind Crest to return to Hyrule Town, then walk out past the castle moat and over the bridge to Trilby Highlands. Cut more of the lucky grass, and you pick up another Kinstone piece.

Minish Woods, Minish Village and the Forest Minish

Cave chest and the second Piece of Heart

Walk into the Minish Woods and follow the path to the cave in the forest. In the pool room, a chest on a small altar between two pools holds a Kinstone piece. Continue through the dark cave beyond it with the Mole Mitts, where blue Keese and bats flap, to a second Kinstone piece lying beside a pedestal. The Piece of Heart there is your second of the set: collect two more.

Stump to Minish Village

Leave the cave and step onto the stump in the Minish Woods. You shrink and drop into Minish Village, where the clover-roofed houses stand. Walk to the round house on the left, home of a Forest Minish.

Three green fusions: lilypads in Castor Wilds

Fuse a green piece with the Forest Minish. The two pieces fit, and a cutscene in Castor Wilds shows a lilypad on the swamp. Fuse a second green piece for another lilypad, then a third for a third: all three produce a green marker on the swamp, and the Minish says that fitting this well must mean good luck. The lilypads give you stepping stones across the swamp.

The pier Piece of Heart

Leave the house and walk along the wooden pier at the lake edge, past the Chuchus. At the end of the pier is a Piece of Heart. The message says you now have three, and one more will make a Heart Container.

Eastern Hills: beanstalk, Meenie and the second Mysterious Wall

Forest Minish (blue) and the beanstalk to the cloud

Climb out of the village by the stump, walk through the Minish Woods and out into the Eastern Hills until you reach the stump with a red mushroom beside it. Shrink and talk to the Forest Minish inside. Fuse a blue piece with his blue piece and a beanstalk sprouts on the grassy cliff.

Grow back to full size and walk to the small cave in the cliff below the stump. You find 20 Mysterious Shells in a chest in the green room there, so fight past the bat. Then climb the beanstalk to the cloud. The Piece of Heart on the pedestal completes your second new Heart Container, and a chest on the left holds 200 rupees.

Meenie’s fusion: a blue Kinstone chest

The miner Meenie works in the farm just east, among the cabbage rows. Fuse a green piece with his green piece. The cutscene shows rubble and a chest on a ledge of the Crenel Wall. Walk back up Mt. Crenel to the ledge to open it; it holds a blue Kinstone piece.

Mysterious Wall and the fifth Goron

Fuse a blue piece with a second Mysterious Wall. The Gorons in their cave break a wall and a fifth Goron arrives; the blue chest in the middle of the cave room, which you open later, stays shut for now.

Castor Wilds, Scarblade’s dojo and the cave hearts

Kinstone chest in the swamp cave

Walk through Lon Lon Ranch and the swamp, using the stumps and logs as stepping stones. In a cave off the swamp path, a chest on an altar holds a red Kinstone piece. You find another chest of the same kind in a second cave later on, again with a red piece.

Scarblade’s dojo

Swim to the waterfall you opened with Grayblade (you need the Flippers) and enter the cave behind it. Inside is Scarblade’s dojo, with a pool in front of the door. Scarblade says training with him will transform your swordsmanship; close your eyes and swing as he says. He tells you that you have sped up your Great Spin Attack charge, so you no longer have to hold the button for as long.

Waterfall cave: a new Piece of Heart

Leave the dojo and swim to the cave in the north-east of the swamp. Push the blocks to the right to clear a path to the pedestal; the heart there is the first of a new set of four.

Water-column cave: a Kinstone piece and the second piece

Keep going through the swamp to another cave with columns of water. Wade through it to reach a Kinstone piece. Next door is a room of blocks where red and blue Spiny Beetles attack. Equip the Pegasus Boots and fight them off, clearing the room. The Piece of Heart waiting there is the second of the set: collect two more.

Wind Ruins: Forest Minish (red) and the Bigger Quiver

Cross to the Wind Ruins and go down to the stone-walled garden with stairs. Enter the Minish crack to reach a Forest Minish’s room. Fuse a red piece with his red piece and a beanstalk grows in the garden. He cheers that you are in for a run of good luck.

Step on the stump to grow, cross the green block maze guarded by Spiny Beetles, and climb the beanstalk. On the cloud, a chest holds the Bigger Quiver, which raises how many arrows you can carry. Climb down and use the Ocarina of Wind to warp to South Hyrule Field.

South Hyrule Field: Tingle, Smith and Syrup

Tingle’s red fusion: a golden Tektite

Find Tingle in South Hyrule Field. Fuse a red piece with his red piece. The cutscene shows Mt. Crenel, where a golden Tektite appears. Defeat it for a big rupee drop; see golden enemies for all nine.

Smith’s fusion: a chest of Kinstones

Walk east to Smith’s house. Fuse a green piece with Smith. He says the perfect match means something spectacular, and a chest appears in Trilby Highlands with a red Kinstone piece.

Forest Minish (red) and Syrup’s potion

Walk on to the stump by the river and shrink. Fuse a red piece with the Forest Minish in his round house. The cutscene shows Syrup’s hut, where she says her special red potion will soon be ready. Her potion refills all your hearts, so come back when you need it.

River cave: the third piece of the set

Use the stump on the riverbank to shrink and swim along the river at Minish size. A small cave guarded by water holds a pedestal with a Piece of Heart. The message says you now have three; collect one more.

Kinstone piece in a Hyrule Town house

Walk back to Hyrule Town. In one house, a ghost stands by two beds while a woman talks with them. Open the chest on the wall of the entrance room and take a Kinstone piece, then talk to the woman: she says she still finds it hard to believe he was possessed by a monster.

Western Wood beanstalk, Lake Hylia and Waveblade’s dojo

Forest Minish (blue) in Western Wood

Head to Western Wood and shrink on the stump in the south-west corner. Fuse a blue piece with the Forest Minish. The two pieces fit, and a beanstalk sprouts at the stump; fight the Moblin that appears when you grow. You can climb it later for rupees and a red Kinstone piece.

Wind Crest to Lake Hylia: the third Heart Container

Play the Ocarina at the Wind Crest and warp to Lake Hylia. The lake is purple at dusk. Swim north across the open water (you need the Flippers) past the Octoroks and floating enemies to a small grassy island. The Piece of Heart on its pedestal completes your third Heart Container.

Waveblade’s dojo: Peril Beam

Swim to the tree on the south-west shore and go in the open door. This is Waveblade’s dojo. Waveblade explains the Peril Beam and tests you with a switch-and-swing sequence. Swing the sword with your last strength, and he gives you the Peril Beam Tiger Scroll. The sword shoots a beam when you are down to a single heart.

A pedestal in the dojo hall holds a Piece of Heart, the first of a new set of four. Take it, then step outside. The stump on the ice platform in the lake is your next shrinking point, on the way to the Temple of Droplets.
