Postgame Collectibles and 100% Completion Walkthrough

The Minish Cap 100% Completion Walkthrough19 chapters
CoversHyrule Town, Lon Lon Ranch, Minish Village, Veil Falls, Mt. Crenel, Trilby Highlands, Royal Valley, Lake Hylia, Minish Woods, Western Wood and Castor Wilds after the credits, then Carlov’s Statue Shop in Hyrule Town
DungeonNone. Dark Hyrule Castle has no postgame content; the final boss cannot be fought again
RewardsAbout 22 Kinstone fusions, 3 Pieces of Heart (2 on the Veil Falls trip and 1 in the Hyrule Town schoolyard), 1 Heart Container from Librari, a 50-shell chest, the Mirror Shield, the Tingle Trophy, 136 figurines, the Carlov Medal and the last Piece of Heart (the 44th, for 20 hearts); no new Tiger Scroll, bottle or Great Fairy in this stretch

When the credits end and you reload your save, the story is over but a handful of items are still missing from a 100% file. This chapter clears them: the remaining Kinstone fusions (finished off by the Tingle Trophy), the Heart Container and Heart Pieces they unlock, Biggoron‘s Mirror Shield, and all 136 Carlov figurines, which end with the Carlov Medal and the final Piece of Heart. You start in the Hyrule Town school room, with every dungeon cleared.

After the credits: what is left to do

Reload your save

Choose your file and Link wakes up in Hyrule Town. All six dungeons are done, so nothing in the castle or the dungeons changes. The remaining work is collecting Kinstone pieces, matching the leftover fusions with the villagers and Minish who hold the other half, spending Mysterious Shells at Carlov’s stand, and one trade with a giant Goron. Pieces of Heart total 44 and the game ends at 20 hearts: you already hold most of them, and this chapter adds the last few.

Remaining Kinstone fusions

Collect Kinstone pieces first

Fusions need the right pieces, so stock up first. The Hyrule Town schoolyard holds one more Piece of Heart (#43 in the Heart Piece Locations table), reached only after the Four Sword. Talk to the teacher in purple at the Hyrule Town school: she hands over a green Kinstone piece. Kinstone pieces also drop from grass and enemies until you hold the Tingle Trophy, and chests and some Minish gifts supply others. The Trilby Highlands are a good farm: fighting the red Moblins there drops about six green pieces within a minute or two. A second spot is the ring of boulders near the Highlands, where another piece turns up. Pieces only match against a partner’s half of the same colour and shape, and the game tells you when they fit. See Kinstone Fusions for the full list of 100.

Goron Cave: awaken Biggoron

Walk east from Lon Lon Ranch field into the dark red cave and talk to the Gorons in a row. Fuse your red piece with the Goron on the far right. The ground shakes, a huge Goron wakes with a yawn and takes his place at the top of Veil Falls. This only works after you have finished the Goron quest (all six Gorons in the cave), and it sets up the Mirror Shield later in the chapter.

Minish Village: the Forest Minish fusions

Return to Hyrule Town and shrink at the stump near Lake Hylia and the Minish Woods (a clover patch and a wooden dock mark the spot) to enter Minish Village. Here you must be Minish size. A Forest Minish in a red hat gives three fusions in a row, each with a different piece: your first fusion makes a yellow sparkle appear on a fence in Hyrule Field, the second makes a patch of land rise out of the water at Veil Falls, and the third leaves a white puff beside the Lake Hylia stump. The sparkle and the puff mark places where something has appeared, so you must go and open them yourself. See Minish Portals for the other shrinking spots.

Veil Falls: the two Pieces of Heart and 50 shells

Open the Wind Crest map, play the Ocarina of Wind and warp to Veil Falls. In the cave pools at the foot of the falls, the land that rose from the water now carries a pedestal holding a Piece of Heart: step on it to take the piece. Bats (Keese) guard the cave, and rupees lie on the floor if you defeat them. A second Piece of Heart sits on a narrow ledge higher up, and a chest on the neighbouring ledge holds 50 Mysterious Shells. Collect both. See Heart Piece Locations and Mysterious Shells.

Biggoron wants your shield

Walk up to the giant Goron at Veil Springs and talk to him. He wants to taste a shield, but only yours will do, and he warns that you will have none afterwards. Agree and he swallows your Small Shield, which leaves the shield slot empty. He does not hand it back straight away, so carry on with the fusions below and return to him later, travelling with the sword and no shield in the meantime.

Librari’s Heart Container

From Veil Falls, go back to the Lake Hylia stump where the white puff showed and shrink again. A Minish chamber has opened behind it with Librari inside, sword raised. He marvels that you found him and rewards the visit with a Heart Container, which raises your maximum hearts and refills them. Fuse your green piece with Librari while you are there; the result is a grass path between stone walls in the overworld with yellow objects on it.

Save here. From the pause menu choose Go to Save Screen and save before moving on, since the next stretch is a long loop of fusions and walking.

Hyrule Town: Malon, Romio and Tina

Warp to Hyrule Town. Malon stands by her cart: fuse a green piece with her and a patch of land appears in the water elsewhere in Hyrule. Romio is in his house in the south-east of town; fuse a green piece and the game shows a flower cutscene on the town map, Romio telling you the match brings good luck for you both. Tina, the teacher at the school, also fuses with a green piece; she says it is a perfect fit and asks where her good fortune is.

Mt. Crenel: the Crenel Hermit

Climb Mt. Crenel to the hermit’s shrine. The Crenel Hermit gives three fusions in a row: a green piece makes a puff appear near a tower in North Hyrule Field, a red piece starts a leaf cutscene over the Minish Woods, and a blue piece opens a tree in North Hyrule Field with plants growing on it. One written source says his green fusion spawns a Golden Rope and his red one opens a chest with a red Kinstone piece; check each marked spot on the map to see what appeared. See Golden Enemies.

Mt. Crenel Minish cave: the Mountain Minish

Climb back to the Minish cave on Mt. Crenel and shrink at the portal rock. The Mountain Minish give four green fusions, the last of them in the workshop with the furnace and the beds. In order they make a chest appear in a forest, a sparkle on the Mt. Crenel plateau, a blue crystal cave with a dark chest, and a sparkle among rocks. Written sources list chests with blue Kinstone pieces among their rewards, plus a golden Tektite in the south-east room of the mines. Use the map after each fusion to see where it landed.

Royal Valley and Lake Hylia

Use the Wind Crest at the top of Mt. Crenel to warp to Royal Valley. Fuse a blue piece with Dampé: the Wind Ruins courtyard changes and a way in opens. Siroc, in his room at the top of the Wind Tribe’s tower, fuses with a green piece, and a slab in Royal Valley sparkles as a result.

At Lake Hylia, David Jr. takes a green piece and a cave among the rocks of Mt. Crenel sparkles. In the Minish Woods, the Business Scrub in the open tree takes a blue piece and a tree in the forest sparkles. Business Scrubs in Western Wood and in the Castor Wilds also fuse with green pieces; each leaves a mark on the map for the corresponding area.

Forest Minish at Mt. Crenel’s base

Shrink at the rock on the ledge at the base of Mt. Crenel to reach the Forest Minish hut. A Forest Minish there fuses with a green piece and two beanstalks appear at Mt. Crenel’s Base. They fit well enough that the Minish wonders whether it brings good luck. See Beanstalk Locations.

Open every fusion result

Most of those fusions only open something: a chest, a tree, a beanstalk, a crack or a golden enemy. Walk to each marked spot on the map and open it, looking for 200 rupees, 200 Mysterious Shells, blue and red Kinstone pieces, or a golden Rope, Octorok or Tektite. The nine golden enemies are worth a lot of rupees and also unlock figurines 111 to 113 at Carlov’s stand. Use Kinstone Fusions as a checklist.

Tingle: the Tingle Trophy

Fuse with Tingle in South Hyrule Field. When you have completed every Kinstone fusion, he is delighted: he tells you the pieces fit again, then cheers that you found them all and hands you the Tingle Trophy. The trophy replaces the Kinstone Bag, so afterwards you can no longer find Kinstone pieces from grass or enemies; chests and the bakery still sell or give them. Tingle and his brothers will also tell you how many fusions remain, so you can check your count by talking to them.

Mirror Shield from Biggoron

Take the shield back to Veil Falls

Once you have spent enough time away, return to Veil Springs and talk to Biggoron. He thanks you for letting him taste a real shield, says it shines, and hands back a Mirror Shield. If you lose it you can buy another Small Shield in Hyrule Town and feed it to him again.

Open the item menu to check that the Mirror Shield is equipped. It reflects beams and magic that the Small Shield cannot. See Items and Equipment.

Carlov figurines and the Carlov Medal

Spend Mysterious Shells at the stand

Go to Carlov’s Statue Shop in Hyrule Town. For each draw, Carlov asks how many shells you want to use; the box shows your chance of winning a new figurine, and you pull the lever at the right of the counter. Your odds fall as the collection grows, from 99 percent for the first draw to around 50 percent when only a few figurines are missing, and spending more shells raises the chance. Fill in the gallery in whichever order the machine decides. See Figurines for the full list of 136.

Figurines 001 to 130 are available before the credits; numbers 131 to 136 appear only after you saved at the end of the game. If you run short, buy more shells from Stockwell, who sells 30 for 200 rupees, and pick up shell chests and the 200-shell rewards from the fusions above. The final draws need many shells at once: one draw with 51 shells gave only a 51 percent chance. Keep drawing until Carlov congratulates you on a complete set.

The Carlov Medal

When the last figurine is in the case, Carlov says he will keep a good eye on your collection and hands over the Carlov Medal. It replaces your shell counter, Stockwell stops selling shells afterwards, and chests that would have held shells now give rupees.

The last Piece of Heart

Carlov’s house

Leave the shop and find the man sitting at the tables by Mama’s Cafe in Hyrule Town. After you finish the set, he says you did it and that it is a totally complete set, and invites you into his house. Go through the door of the red-roofed house at the top of the path: a heart pedestal stands in the carpeted room. Step on it to take the last Piece of Heart. Your life energy is replenished and increased, which brings you to the 44th piece and a full 20 hearts. The same house also holds a phonograph.

Sources say this house opens as soon as you hold 130 figurines, so you can also take the piece before you finish the set. The route here takes it at the end, after the medal.

Sleep at the Happy Hearth Inn

Walk to the Happy Hearth Inn, pay for the 400-rupee luxury room and sleep. This is optional and gives nothing except a night’s rest, but it is a good place to end a 100% file, and a figurine of the inn is among the 136.
