This short stop in Hyrule Castle Town pays off with one Piece of Heart. Play the Sun’s Song to make it night, find the Treasure Box Shop in the back streets and use the Lenses of Truth to pick the right chest in five rooms in a row. After a look at the Happy Mask Shop, return to the Temple of Time, pull the Master Sword, wake up as an adult and play the Nocturne of Shadow to warp to the Graveyard.

Reach the market and make it night

Leave the Temple of Time after the Prelude of Light warp and the HYRULE CASTLE TOWN banner appears as you step into the square. Run through the market toward the streets at the back of town. The Treasure Box Shop only opens at night, so stop in the open and play the Sun’s Song. Day turns to evening at once and the lanterns light the alleys.

Find the Treasure Box Shop

Follow the narrow back alley out of the market, past the tavern door and the stacked barrels. Keep to the cobbled lane as it bends until you see a heavy wooden door beside a hanging lantern. Go in and walk up to the counter, where the Treasure-Chest Shopkeeper, a large man with a tattooed shoulder, starts to explain the game.

Pay the entry fee

The rules: you open one of two treasure chests in each room, the right one moves you on, and a wrong guess ends the game. Get every room right and the prize is a Piece of Heart, which you can win only once. Every try costs 10 rupees, so choose I’ll play when asked. Your wallet drops by 10, the shopkeeper hands you a small key for the first door and you head through to the first room.

Choose each chest with the Lenses of Truth

Step into the first room, where two chests sit side by side on green rugs. Turn on the Lenses of Truth before you decide and open the chest it reveals. It gives you a small key, which unlocks the chained door at the far end. Keep the Lens up in each new room.

Repeat this in the next rooms. Each has two chests and a chained door, and the Lens shows which chest to open. After five correct choices, a message says you have passed the final challenge and your prize waits in the next room.

Happy Mask Shop

Make it day again

Walk back out into the dusk streets and head to the Happy Mask Shop. Its door is closed at night and the shopkeeper says it opens only in the daytime. Stand on the stage near the shop and play the Sun’s Song again. Night turns to day and the green door opens.

Browse the masks

Talk to the Happy Mask Shopkeeper and pick I’d like to browse. The menu also has an entry about the Mask of Truth and one for leaving. Choose a mask and the shopkeeper offers to let you check it out, here the Keaton Mask. You can only have one mask checked out at a time, so a second one prompts you to swap. You need nothing else from the shop, so leave and head for the Temple of Time.

Temple of Time and the warp

Warp to the Graveyard with the Nocturne of Shadow

Open the song list and play the Nocturne of Shadow, which the menu describes as a song that takes you to the far end of the graveyard. After the last note the game asks if you want to warp to the graveyard. Choose Warp. You arrive in the Graveyard in the dark. Follow the path to the gate of the Shadow Temple.
