Oracle of Seasons 100% Completion Walkthrough26 chapters
CoversThe purple halls of Unicorn’s Cave, reached from the autumn fields of Holodrum near Eyeglass Lake. Stay in autumn for the approach. Once you finish the dungeon, the route leads out into the snowy winter area of Holodrum.
DungeonUnicorn’s Cave (Dungeon 5): Compass, Dungeon Map and Magnetic Gloves inside, mini-boss Syger, boss Digdogger, Essence of Nature (Nurturing Warmth).
RewardsMagnetic Gloves, Compass, Dungeon Map, Boss Key, five Small Keys, 100 Rupees, 1 Rupee and 10 Bombs from the knight room, one Heart Container from the boss, Essence of Nurturing Warmth. No rings and no trade items.

Unicorn’s Cave is the fifth dungeon. The first rooms give you the Compass and the first Small Key, the Dungeon Map and Magnetic Gloves come next, and then the mini-boss Syger, the knight room and the flame rooms lead you to Digdogger. Defeating the boss gives you a Heart Container and the Essence of Nurturing Warmth. Use the Magnetic Gloves for the metal puzzles that run through the middle of the cave.

Inside the entrance you get purple halls with pits, shallow water and red crab enemies. Fight through them with the Noble Sword, and step around the pits rather than trying to jump the wide ones. Keep your Roc’s Feather ready for the spiked floors further in.

Unicorn’s Cave: the Compass and the first key

Pick up the Compass

Follow the ring-shaped walkway that circles a pit. Off the walkway is a small room with a chest. Open it to get the Compass. The game says the Compass helps you locate chests and find keys, which is useful because several of the chests in this dungeon are behind pits and switches.

Take the first Small Key from the mine cart

Continue past the water rooms and the rooms with spider enemies until you reach the mine cart track. Ride the cart from the track junction, hit the switch when the rails point the wrong way, and follow the track to the chest that holds a Small Key. Your key counter goes up to one.

Unicorn’s Cave: the Dungeon Map and the Magnetic Gloves

Open the chest for the Dungeon Map

Head to the hexagonal room with four orange blocks around a chest in the middle. Open the chest to get the Dungeon Map. The game then tells you to press Select to view the map, which you can use at any time to check the layout of the dungeon.

Magnetic Gloves

Get the Magnetic Gloves

Leave the hexagonal room and cross the ring room with the red spike pods. Water rooms lead on to a yellow-tile room. In an alcove with an orange mat, a chest holds the Magnetic Gloves. Equip them on a button. They attract or repel metal objects, and they can pull you toward a metal target.

Solve the magnetic puzzles

In the yellow-tile room and the ball room next to it, use the gloves on the metal spheres. Pull a sphere toward you to cross a gap, or repel it onto a switch so that a bridge appears. The metal poles that line the bigger gaps work the same way: you pull yourself along them to the other side.

The side-view room with a blue block and spikes, and the block room after it, need the Power Bracelet, which you should already have from Snake’s Remains. Lift or push the stone blocks to clear the path. Follow the path to the chest room with the cart beside it.

Syger: the mini-boss of Unicorn’s Cave

Use the second key on the locked door

In the block-pit room, a chest holds a second Small Key. Take it, then return to the pit room and use the key on the locked door at the right. The door leads to the green octagon room where Syger waits.

Defeat Syger

Syger is a tiger that charges at you and can curl into a spiked ball. Keep your distance while it runs, and jump its charges with the Roc’s Feather. When it is not curled up, strike the ball on its tail with the sword.

The knight room and the keys

Collect the 100 Rupees

Back in the purple halls west of the block room, an alcove holds a chest with 100 Rupees. Open it, and your wallet goes from 176 to 276.

Learn the owl’s hint and defeat the knights

In the owl’s room, the owl gives you a hint about the order in which the knights must be defeated. Enter the knight room, which has a purple cross-shaped tile path and an orange floor in the corners, and fight the knights one at a time. Keep track of the order the owl described.

Open the chests in the corners

The chests in the knight room open once the knights are cleared. Among them you get 1 Rupee, ten Bombs and a Small Key.

Take the keys from the dark room and the yellow tiles

Continue through the purple rooms until you reach a dark room, where a chest on an altar holds another Small Key. Later, a chest on yellow tiles beside a pit holds a fifth key. The game tells you that the key opens a locked block in this dungeon, and by now you carry three keys.

The flame rooms and the side-view room

Cross the flame rooms and use the keys

Beyond the block maze you reach rooms with red flame creatures, blue spiky enemies and a pit. Cut through them with the sword, and use your keys on the locked doors as you go. Three keys are spent on doors in this part of the cave.

Hop over the spikes in the side-view room

The side-view room has a ladder, a spiked floor and a red moving platform. Climb the ladder, then use the Roc’s Feather to hop over the red platform and the spikes. Climb back up the ladder once you are over.

Next comes a room with green floating platforms over spikes, then purple platforms over a pit. Hop from platform to platform with the Roc’s Feather, and continue to the boss door.

Spiked ball on the diamond-patterned floor of the Digdogger room

Digdogger: the boss of Unicorn’s Cave

Beat Digdogger with the spiked ball

Digdogger is a giant urchin that bounces around a boss room with a diamond-patterned floor. It can only be hurt by the spiked ball, so use the Magnetic Gloves to pull the ball toward you and then repel it into the boss. Stand near one side of the room, and repel the ball when Digdogger is on the far side.

Each big hit splits Digdogger into smaller urchins. Use the spiked ball again on the smaller ones, and finish off the last of them with your sword when they are small enough. Repeat the hits until all of the pieces are gone.

Take the Heart Container and the Essence

When the boss is defeated, a Heart Container appears. Take it, and your maximum health rises by one full heart. Walk north to the altar and take the Essence of Nurturing Warmth.

Leave Unicorn’s Cave

Head back out into Holodrum

Leave the dungeon the way you came in. You step out onto a snowy winter area of Holodrum, with white stalagmites around the cave mouth and a frozen lake beyond. The route continues from here into Subrosia.
