Temple of Time entrance: Heart Piece and Poe Soul

Move the two Owl Statues before you leave

When the Temple of Time cutscenes end you stand in the entrance hall again. Do not leave yet. The Dominion Rod still has its full power inside the temple, which sits in a different era, so two Owl Statues here can be pulled out of their places. Walk down the stairs and head to the southeast corner (on your left as you face south). Use the rod on the statue, walk it out of the way and step into the alcove behind it to open a chest with a Piece of Heart (#32 on the Heart Piece list). Then cross to the southwest corner, move the second statue the same way and find a Poe floating behind it. Turn into Wolf Link and defeat it for a Poe Soul (#52 on the Poe Soul list).

Climb the steps and leave. Ooccoo waits outside and explains that the rod’s magic ran dry long ago, so out here it is useless; that is why the two statues had to be moved first. She mentions that other statues in Hyrule answer to such a rod, then flies off and Midna takes over.

Ilia’s memory: Renado’s letter, the invoice and the wooden statue

Renado

Talk to Renado and Shad in Kakariko Village

Warp to Kakariko Village and enter Renado’s sanctuary. Ilia, Darbus and Gor Coron are inside. Renado thinks Telma’s circle may help Ilia recover her memory and gives you a letter to deliver to Telma. Drop through the opening in the floor to the basement and talk to Shad, who is studying a statue whose writing reads roughly “awaken us with the word that breaks the seal.” He tells you about the Oocca, the sky people. The statue will not move yet.

Invoice

Telma, the invoice and the doctor

Warp to Castle Town, walk to Telma’s bar in the south of town and give her Renado’s letter. She swaps it for an invoice from the doctor’s tab. Take the invoice to the medical clinic beside the east gate. Dr. Borville says Ilia arrived with a wooden statue, but medicine spilled over it, so he put it outside to dry and it was stolen.

Leave through the east gate so that you can become Wolf Link, then return to the clinic. At the back of the room, push the box on the right aside to expose a green stain and learn the Medicine Scent. Climb onto the box, follow the scent up the bookshelf and outside, then use your senses to track it through town to Telma’s bar.

Stalhound

Defeat the Stalhounds at night

The scent ends at Telma’s cat, Louise. She admits she took the statue but says dog-like beasts south of Castle Town snatched it from her. They only appear after dark, so leave through the south gate and wait for night. Walk around near the Goron on the south road and the Stalhounds burst out of the ground. Midna’s charge attack as Wolf Link clears them quickly. When the last one falls, the wooden statue tumbles to you.

Ilia

Show Ilia the statue

Warp back to Kakariko Village, return to human form and show Ilia the wooden statue in Renado’s sanctuary. A fragment of memory returns: someone shut in with her helped her escape and gave her the carving. Gor Coron recognizes it as the work of the tribe that guarded the royal family, whose hidden village lies beyond the Bridge of Eldin. Darbus rushes off to clear the rockslide, and the village entrance is marked on your map just north of the bridge.

Hidden Village: defeat the 20 Bulblins

Meet Darbus at the entrance

Warp to the Bridge of Eldin and run north to the marked cave. Darbus smashes the last boulders and warns that twenty Bulblins hold the village and that you must beat them all before they spot you. Stock up on arrows first; this is one of the few places where the Hawkeye is useful against distant lookouts. You cannot warp from inside the village, so walk out when you want to leave.

Bulblin

Clear the village

A Western-style cutscene shows the street, and a Bulblin-head counter tracks how many remain. Work down the main street with arrows from cover. Bulblin 1 stands near the dynamite barrels at the entrance; if you drop him fast, number 2 crosses to take his place, otherwise he waits in the building on the left. Numbers 3 and 4 face each other: one in the building on the left with the hanging grate, one across the street on the right. Number 5 walks the walkway of the second building on the left, and 6 stands in the center street near the end of the row. Numbers 7 and 8 face each other inside the last building down the center of the street.

Number 9 waits on a high ledge of the first building on the right, and 10 stands on the ground behind the second building. Numbers 11 and 12 watch from tall lookout platforms opposite each other, with 13 and 14 on the ground near the dynamite barrels beside them. In the last building on the right, 15 patrols the second floor, 16 reaches the roof through an opening on that floor and 17 is on the ground floor. The last three are in the second-to-last building on the left: 18 on the ground floor and 19 and 20 walking the second floor. If the counter will not reach zero, sweep the back alleys and check high ledges and the gaps behind crates.

Impaz

Meet Impaz and take Ilia’s Charm

When the twentieth falls, an old woman comes out of the house at the north end of the village. Impaz calls you the savior, explains that this was once the old Kakariko Village built by the protectors of the royal family, that she is the last villager and that Ilia knew you would come. She gives you Ilia’s Charm to return to Ilia.

Howling Stone: the Great Spin teacher

Break through the windows on the west side of the village and behind the building you find a Howling Stone in the yard where a Cucco wanders. Leave the village to turn into Wolf Link, come back and howl the long melody the stone teaches; it is hard to memorize, so watch the bars closely. You are taken to a misty place outside a castle where you howl it again with the golden wolf, and a new wolf symbol appears in the north part of Castle Town. See Hidden Skills and Howling Stones for all seven skills. Stay in wolf form for the cat game, which only pays out after Ilia’s memory is fully restored.

Ilia’s Charm, the Horse Call and the Ancient Sky Book

Horse Call

Return the charm

Warp to Kakariko Village and show Ilia the charm in Renado’s sanctuary. Her memory returns more fully: she remembers you and Epona in Ordon, the village kids peek through the window, and she gives the charm back. It is the Horse Call she made for Epona, so you can summon her on open ground whenever you like. Ilia also mentions that Impaz spoke of a “messenger to the heavens” who carries a rod, which is why Impaz cannot leave the village.

Dominion Rod

Show Impaz the Dominion Rod

Call Epona with the Horse Call and ride back to the Hidden Village, or warp to the Bridge of Eldin and walk. Talk to Impaz in her house with the Dominion Rod drawn. She realizes you are the messenger and gives you the Ancient Sky Book, written in the script of the Oocca.

Hidden Village: 20 cats, Heart Piece and Poe

Play the Cat Hunt with the Cucco

As Wolf Link, talk to the Cucco in the yard near the Howling Stone. He challenges you to speak to all twenty stray cats of the village, another Western-style game like the Bulblin hunt. Each cat tells you its number when you talk to it, so the order does not matter. Do not walk into Impaz’s house during the hunt or the count restarts.

Cats 1 and 2 sit on and beside the crates at the village entrance, with 3 and 4 a little farther down the center street. Cat 5 wanders the alley between the first and second buildings on the left and 6 the alley behind the second building on the right. Cat 7 sits in a red booth in the middle of the street, and 8 is near the end of the center street. Cat 9 is on the second floor of the first building on the left and 10 on the outside platform of the second level of the second building on the left. Cat 11 is near the first house on the right by the watering hole. Cats 12 and 13 are on the ground floor of the second building on the left, one of them by a window, and 14 is on that building’s upper floor.

Cat 15 hides behind the three barrels on the ground floor of the third building on the right, and 16 sits in front of Impaz’s house. Cat 17 is at the very back of the village beside the wall, and 18 is just past the last building on the left. Cat 19 wanders near the beginning of the village. Cat 20 is on the second floor of the third building on the right: climb onto the second building on that side, walk around the back to the window of the third and jump across to talk to it. Then return to the Cucco at the west end of the village.

Piece of Heart

Heart Piece reward

The Cucco says your reward is by Impaz’s house. Take the Piece of Heart waiting there (#41 on the Heart Piece list).

Poe Soul on the northeast balcony

At night, Clawshot up the side of the building in the northeast part of the village to its awning at the north end; a Poe floats there. As Wolf Link, defeat it for the Poe Soul (#55 on the Poe Soul list). Then leave the village and warp to Kakariko Village.

Owl Statues and the six Sky characters

Shad

Show Shad the book

Drop into Renado’s basement, equip the Ancient Sky Book and show it to Shad. His attempt to wake the statue with a dagger fails, but the Dominion Rod regains its power and he marks every Owl Statue he has tracked on your map. Each hides one Sky character: pull the statue off its circle with the rod and step on the glow. The statue in the basement stays stuck for now. More detail is on Owl Statues and the Sky Book.

Piece of Heart

Bridge of Eldin: Sky character and Heart Piece

Warp to the Bridge of Eldin and defeat the Bulblin archer on the right at the north end. The statue stands to the left of the span; pull it away and step on the circle for the first character. Walk the statue south along the bridge, defeating the archer there, and drop it into the gap at the end of the span, in front of a ladder on the west side. Climb on it and up the ladder, deal with another archer and open the chest straight ahead for a Piece of Heart (#12).

Kakariko Gorge: Sky character and a 100 Rupee chest

Warp to Kakariko Gorge, call Epona and ride to the red flag at the north end of the map, then climb to the ledge. Move the statue aside for the second character. Two gaps lie in the wall beside it: place the statue in the middle of the east gap, hop across to the higher ledge, then use the rod to carry it to the second gap and cross again to a chest holding the Hylian letter E Miiverse stamp, which replaces the Rupees this chest held in older versions (see the stamp list).

Piece of Heart

Faron Woods: Sky character and Heart Piece

Warp to South Faron Woods and go to Coro’s lantern shop. Take the path northwest, clear the boulder with the Ball and Chain or a Bomb, and move the statue beyond it for the third character. Push the statue into the ditch in the middle of the clearing, turn into Wolf Link, climb the rock and use the statue as a step. Let Midna make seven jumps east into the purple fog area and open the chest for a Piece of Heart (#3).

Castle Town ruins: Sky character and 100 Rupees

Warp to Castle Town, call Epona and ride south to the ruined amphitheater. Pull the statue off its circle, place it between the stone ledge and the theater seats, climb on and hop to the small circle for the fourth character. Then walk the statue to the far side of the theater, where a second pillar carries a chest with an orange Rupee, and jump across.

Great Bridge of Hylia: Sky character and 100 Rupees

Ride Epona west to the Great Bridge of Hylia. The statue sits northeast of the bridge on a high ledge. Bring it down and position it under the vines hanging above, Clawshot the vines and drop onto the statue, then jump to the circle for the fifth character. A second platform lies just east: put the statue between the two platforms, cross from the circle and open the chest for another orange Rupee.

Gerudo Desert: the last Sky character and 100 Rupees

Warp to the Gerudo Mesa and run east to the red flag, a small rectangular area with four pillars. Lead the statue between the two northern pillars, climb the northeast pillar and jump over the statue to the circle. That completes all six characters. Keep shifting the statue to reach the far southern platform, where one last orange Rupee chest waits.

Postman

The postman’s letter

Warp to Castle Town and walk toward the entrance. The postman delivers a letter from Shad saying he is disappointed but heading back to Kakariko Village. If it does not arrive, a statue site was missed; recheck your map for an Owl Statue you did not move.

Hidden Skill: Great Spin

Learn the Great Spin in Castle Town

Enter Castle Town and walk to the north end, up the steps and past the door. As Wolf Link, approach the golden wolf and you are pulled into a misty arena. The warrior first asks you to show the Jump Strike from the Snowpeak lesson: lock onto him, hold the attack button to charge until the blade flashes and release. He then teaches the Great Spin, a spin attack that also sends out a small beam when your hearts are full, the seventh and last Hidden Skill. If you lack the Jump Strike, learn it first from the Snowpeak stone and the Kakariko Graveyard wolf.

The Sky Cannon

Open the way in Renado’s basement

Warp to Kakariko Village and return to Shad. He asks whether you read his letter. Show him the completed Sky Book: he reads the full word, the symbol on the statue vanishes and the statue now matches the others. Shad leaves to cool off. Pull the statue aside with the Dominion Rod, take the passage and descend to an open chamber holding the ancient Sky Cannon. Shad reappears, amazed. Ask Midna to warp it; she refuses while Shad watches, so talk to him until he walks off, then have her warp the cannon to Lake Hylia.

Fyer

Pay Fyer 300 Rupees

At Lake Hylia, speak to Fyer beside the cannon. After a short tour he notices it is broken and offers to fix it for 300 Rupees in advance. Pay him (the four 100 Rupee chests above cover it with 100 to spare) and watch a scene of him hammering while days pass. When it is done, equip the Clawshot and hook the target on the back of the cannon. Ooccoo joins you and the cannon fires you to the City in the Sky, covered in the City in the Sky walkthrough.
