You then step back into the Twilight. The wolf senses and Midna’s targeted jump are introduced here. Return to the Ordon Village chapter if you missed anything before the raid.

Table of Contents
Prison Break as Wolf Link
Struggle free from the chain
Link wakes as a wolf with a chain on one leg. Struggle by shaking the controller until a scene introduces Midna, who breaks the chain after teasing you.

Dig out of the cell
Attack the pile of debris in the corner of the cell. It exposes a gap under the bars; dig through to leave the cell. Midna climbs on your back and promises to help as long as you do what she says.

Go into the neighboring cell, target the lever hanging from the ceiling and jump to grab it. Your weight pulls it down and opens a gate. Run through into the sewers.

Castle Town Sewers
Use the wolf senses
Midna teaches the senses: press X to see the spirits of soldiers in the sewers. Use this often, because some paths and talkers only show up in sense view. Go west at the first intersection and crawl into the tunnel to the south, where a crate hides a Blue Rupee (5). Break the skulls scattered through the sewers for hearts and other drops.

Flood the spike floor
Spikes block the way north. Go to the south end of the corridor, jump and grab the lever there, which opens a flood door and lets water pour in. The water covers the spikes, so you can swim north across them.

Drain the water and reach Midna
In the northwest corner a second flood door has its own lever. Pull it to lower the water level. Then go northeast, where Midna floats past a gate and says you are on your own for a moment. A small hole at the base of the wall in that corner lets Wolf Link squeeze through, so crawl under and meet Midna on the other side.

Climb the spiral staircase
A huge spiral stair stands ahead. The first attempt fails when part of the steps crumbles under you. Try again: Midna lets you target her and make long jumps from step to step. Repeat the targeted jump up the tower and cross the tightrope on the way; just walk it steadily.

At the top, defeat three Shadow Keese. The door is sealed, but a higher ledge sits beside it. Climb onto it, target Midna and she carries you out through the opening at the top of the tower.

Hyrule Castle Rooftops
Crate climb and Shadow Kargarok
You are now on the roofs of Hyrule Castle. A spirit soldier gives away where you are. Push the small crate against the wall next to him, hop onto it and climb the higher ledge. Drop down on the far side and a Shadow Kargarok attacks; a few jump attacks defeat it. Other foes are listed on the enemies page.

Gaps and the tower window
Keep going until a broken bridge stops you. Turn to the left, target Midna and jump the gap, then follow the linear route to a tower with an open window and climb in. Go up the stairs and through the door.

Zelda’s story
A long scene shows the princess in the tower. Zelda explains that Zant’s forces took the castle and that Hyrule is now drowned in Twilight. When you try to leave, guards arrive, Midna rushes you outside and then warps you to Ordon Spring.

Ordon Sword and Shield
Back in Ordon as a wolf
You are still a wolf, so Midna says you must find a sword and a shield before entering the Twilight again. Head south toward the village. A squirrel near your house shows that Wolf Link can talk to animals, which is worth doing for hints. The villagers fear you; keep your distance or they flee or attack. The characters page lists who is who.

Listen to Mayor Bo and Jaggle
Cross the bridge to the east side of the village and crawl through the grass until you are close to Mayor Bo and Jaggle. Their conversation reveals that the shield is in Jaggle’s storage loft, and Midna points out the open window of his waterwheel house.

Get past Hanch and take the Ordon Shield
Head for Sera’s Sundries. Hanch spots you from his bluff and sends his hawk after you, so keep running to the far side of the shop, where Sera’s cat remarks that Hanch is not very brave. Target Midna and jump up to Hanch’s bluff; he panics and runs off. From the bluff, use Midna to reach the waterwheel house and go in through the open window.

Land on the table in the middle of the room, then target Midna to reach the storage loft. Dash into the wall twice to knock the Ordon Shield loose, pick it up and leave through the loft window.

Dig into Rusl’s house for the Ordon Sword
Go to Rusl’s house, where he and Uli stand outside, wary of the creatures that have been attacking. Rusl mentions that the sword meant as a gift for Hyrule is inside, so keep out of sight of both. Press X to use the senses and a glittering dig patch shows against the wall of Rusl’s house. Dig in and take the Ordon Sword. Then head to the spring.

Ordon Spring: Ordona
Fight the Shadow Beast
Return to Ordon Spring. A wall of Twilight closes in and a Shadow Beast drops from the sky. You are on your own for this one. Target it, jump on it and bite repeatedly; after two full rounds of attacks it falls.

Meet Ordona
The Light Spirit Ordona appears. She tells the story of the four spirits of light, Zant and the Twilight, and says Link can only become human again by restoring the light spirits. This sets up the Tears of Light task of the next chapter, described on the Tears of Light page.

Cross the bridge back into the Twilight
With control back, walk across the large bridge to the curtain of Twilight. Tell Midna you are ready and she pulls you in, starting the next chapter.
