This chapter covers the grassland, ruins, forests and sky islands around Lookout Landing, plus the first stretch of the Depths below it. Work through it in the order below: monster forts and the Garrison Ruins first, then the chasm and Camera Work in the Depths, then the west and south of the field.
Quick route
Clear the Boss Bokoblin fort below Lookout Landing for four chests and two Koroks, then pop the pinwheel balloons in the forest.
Ride to the Hyrule Garrison Ruins: Susuyai Shrine, five chests, two Korok puzzles and the Bring Peace to Hyrule Field! battle.
Jump into the Hyrule Field Chasm, light the Nisoij and Iayusus Lightroots and finish Camera Work in the Depths, then loot the Depths chests and buy the Dark Tunic.
Return to the surface for the Ancient Tree Stump, its cave and Korok, then the Sage Temple Ruins, Giant’s Forest, Carok Bridge and finally Ishodag Shrine on the Quarry Ruins cliff.
Below Lookout Landing: camp and monster fort
Bokoblin camp. Glide south from Lookout Landing to the small Bokoblin camp around a campfire beside a leaning boulder. It has no chest, but its Bokoblin Horns are a good first stock of fusing material.

Korok seed (lone tree). A big lone tree stands on a grassy hill a short way past the camp. Walk up to it and search the trunk and branches; the Korok is hiding in the tree.

Monster fort and Boss Bokoblin. A palisade fort with a wooden cage sits against a pale cliff. Scout it from the hill, shoot the archers from range, then take down the Boss Bokoblin in the courtyard with arrows and a strong fused weapon.

Three chests. At the foot of the cliff, beside stacked metal crates, three chests hold Arrow x5, Amber and a Hinox Hammer.

Chest (Rock Salt). In another corner of the fort a wooden cage sits on top of a chest. Grab the cage with Ultrahand and set it aside, then open the chest for Rock Salt.

Korok seed (fort summit). A tall rock rises over the fort. Stand under its overhang and use Ascend to pass up through the rock onto the summit. A loose rock sits on top: pick it up and the Korok appears.

Forest and sky island
Korok seed (pinwheel). In the forest near the fort, look for a small pinwheel on a tree stump. Stand next to it and Korok balloons appear among the trees. Shoot every balloon with arrows before the time runs out and the Korok appears with its seed.

Chest (Large Zonai Charge). A big block of rock lies in the field. Climb onto it and use Recall: the rock rewinds its fall and carries you to the Central Hyrule Sky Archipelago. On the small island with the stone archway, open the chest on the yellow, mossy stone floor beside the Zonai statue for a Large Zonai Charge, then skydive back to the field.

Wild horses. The meadows here are a good place to catch a first horse. Crouch and sneak up behind one, mount it and keep soothing it until it calms.

Hyrule Garrison Ruins
Susuyai Shrine (A Spinning Device) stands at the northwest corner of the Hyrule Garrison Ruins, southwest of Lookout Landing, in a muddy hollow between two boulders. It teaches Zonai wheels and holds a chest with Arrow x5. The Iayusus Lightroot lies directly below it.

Chest (Soldier’s Spear (or Traveler’s Spear, Knight’s Halberd or Royal Halberd, depending on your progress)). Climb onto the long stone wall walk of the ruined fortress beside the shrine and look down into the corner where a mound of dirt lies against the stairs. The chest is half-buried in the dirt; drop down and open it for a Soldier’s Spear.

Korok seeds x2 (carry the Korok to his friend). On the paving of the ruins a Korok with a huge backpack is stuck and cannot walk. Green smoke rises from his friend’s camp across the grass. Fuse a plank and Zonai wheels from the area into a cart with Ultrahand, set the Korok on it, then drive or push it to the smoke. Delivering him gives Korok Seed x2.

Chest (Amber). Bokoblins have built a treehouse camp in the trees beside an old stone wall near the Korok camp. Shoot the archers, then climb the wooden walkways to the highest platform and open the chest in the nest of branches for Amber.

Chest (Purple Rupee). Walk round to the side of the ruined stone building with barred windows, west of the fountain. The chest sits on the paving against the wall and holds a Purple Rupee.

Chest (Soldier’s Broadsword (or Traveler’s Sword, Knight’s Broadsword or Royal Broadsword, depending on your progress)). Beside a patch of bare brown earth edged by a little wooden fence, lift the flat stone slab off the ground with Ultrahand. The chest buried under the dark dirt holds a Soldier’s Broadsword.

Chest (Brightbloom Seed x5). Just south of the fountain, climb the ivy-covered wall and drop into the narrow corner between the broken walls. The chest there holds Brightbloom Seed x5, which you need in the Depths.

Korok seed (fountain basin). The round stone fountain basin in the middle of the ruins has a gap in its centre. Pick up the loose rock lying nearby and place it in the basin; the Korok appears with a seed. The travelling merchant Parga also drives her cart along the road here and sells food ingredients.

Bring Peace to Hyrule Field!
Out on the grassland, talk to Hoz and his mounted squad to start Bring Peace to Hyrule Field! Follow the crew into the palisade camp ahead and defeat every monster until the Monster Forces gauge for the Marauders of Hyrule Field empties. Hoz pays you a Silver Rupee. The quest page has the full battle.

Hyrule Field Chasm and the Depths
The Hyrule Field Chasm is a pit ringed with red gloom a short ride from the battle. A Zonai Survey Team member stands on the rocks at its edge, worried about Robbie, who has gone down already. Stock up on Brightbloom Seeds and arrows, then jump in to start Camera Work in the Depths.

Optional detour: Great Sky Island. Fast travel to the Room of Awakening if you missed anything there: a Korok in the ruined hallway, a Korok in a ring of stones on the golden grass, a chest with Large Zonaite at the bottom of a pond (pull it out with Ultrahand) and a chest with an Opal in a hollow of the cliffs.

Landing at the survey camp. Glide down toward the campfire glowing at the bottom of the chasm and land at the Zonai Survey Team camp, where Ponnick waits. Robbie has headed west. Throw Brightbloom Seeds by hand or fuse them to arrows to light the dark.

Nisoij Lightroot. Head into the dark from the camp. The first huge glowing root is the Nisoij Lightroot; walk under its glowing core and interact with it to light the area and add a travel point.

Iayusus Lightroot and the Camera. Keep going west to the Iayusus Lightroot, below Susuyai Shrine, and light it the same way. Robbie is camped beside it and gives you the Purah Pad’s Camera. Photograph the statue with the raised arm on the nearby rock face, then return to Josha and Robbie at Lookout Landing for Zonaite x5 and the end of the quest.

Depths below Lookout Landing
Chest (Giant Brightbloom Seed x5). In an abandoned monster camp among the rocks, a chest sits on a wooden pallet. Open it for Giant Brightbloom Seed x5.

Chest (Arrow x10). At the scaffolded monster outpost built against a big rock, climb the wooden walkway to the end of the planks and open the chest for Arrow x10. Mine the Zonaite deposits beside it. Stalhorses roam the dark plains here; you can mount one to cover ground quickly.

Miniboss: Stone Talus. On the open plain a Stone Talus rises from the ground. Hit the glowing ore on its back with heavy weapons and Bomb Flower arrows, or climb onto it, until it falls, then collect the ore and Zonaite it drops.

Armor (Dark Tunic). Back at Lookout Landing, the Bargainer Statue in the wooden building takes Poes in exchange for items. Its first trade is a Dark Clump; the Dark Tunic costs 150 Poes. The statue also marks its larger brethren in the Depths for 10 Poes.

Chest (Amber). Return to the Depths via the Nisoij travel point with gloom-resistant dishes (Sundelion is the key ingredient). In a narrow rocky passage a Rock Like clings to the wall above a chest. Fight it with fused weapons until it bursts, then open the chest for Amber.

Chests (Opal and Sundelion). Further on, beside a wooden ladder scaffold, another Rock Like lurks. Defeat it and open the chest on the rock beside the ladder for an Opal. A little further, a chest sits on a pair of old mine-cart rails and holds Sundelion.

Ancient Tree Stump
Korok seed (rock circle). On top of a rocky hill, a grassy patch holds a circle of small rocks with one gap. Carry the missing rock up from the slope below and drop it into the gap; the Korok appears on a boulder at the edge.

Korok seed (log structure). Beside a lashed-log structure at the water’s edge, climb down the steep grassy bank under the wooden scaffold. The Korok is hiding among the crossed beams.

Korok seed (glide target). Climb the giant Ancient Tree Stump by its ramp of lashed logs. On the rim, stand on the small stump with the Korok leaf, then jump off and glide to the bullseye target on the broken wooden platform below. Land on the red centre.

Ancient Tree Stump Cave. The hollow top of the stump is the entrance. Drop in and work down through the roots: two Like Likes guard chests with a Wooden Shield and a Traveler’s Shield (or Soldier’s Shield, Knight’s Shield or Royal Shield, depending on your progress), a Bubbulfrog holds a Bubbul Gem, and a banner-hung alcove at the far end holds the Fierce Deity Boots. Ascend through the low ceiling to leave.

Chest (Spiked Boko Bow (or Boko Bow or Dragonbone Boko Bow, depending on your progress)). Not far from the stump, Bokoblins have built a wooden lookout of planks, crates and red skull barrels on a grassy knoll. Clear it and climb to the top platform; the chest in the straw nest holds a Spiked Boko Bow.

Sage Temple Ruins
Korok seed (ruined wall). In the flooded Sage Temple Ruins a crumbling wall is missing a section of blocks, and the empty slots light up when you hold a block near them. Take the loose blocks lying in the shallows with Ultrahand one at a time and fit each into its outlined slot. When the wall is whole, the Korok appears on top of the arch.

Sage Temple Cave. At the middle of the flooded temple, a square stone frame is set in the floor. Wade across the lily pads and drop through the hole. Inside, smash the boulder walls to reach a chest with a Knight’s Claymore (or Traveler’s Claymore, Soldier’s Claymore or Royal Claymore, depending on your progress) and a Bubbulfrog with a Bubbul Gem. Ascend to leave.

Giant’s Forest
Korok seed (dandelion). In the forest a narrow mossy rock pillar stands alone on the hillside with a glowing dandelion growing on top. Climb up beside it and hit the dandelion with a swing of your weapon; the Korok appears on top of the pillar.

Miniboss: Stalnox. In the Giant’s Forest, southwest of Lookout Landing, a skeletal Stalnox rises from the ground at night. Stay behind trees, fire arrows at its single glowing eye, and throw Bomb Flowers at its legs. When the eye pops loose, smash it. It drops a Hinox Tooth.

Sky island and plains
Chest (Large Zonaite). On the hillside, a floating rock sits under a tall beam of light. Use Recall on it to ride it up to the Central Hyrule Sky Archipelago. On the little island with the ruined stone arches, open the chest on the yellow mossy slab for Large Zonaite, then skydive back down.

Korok seed (outcrop). Over the rolling meadow, climb the grassy side of a mossy rock outcrop to the summit beside a small tree. Pick up the loose rock on top and the Korok appears.

Miniboss: Boss Bokoblin camp. A second Boss Bokoblin holds a camp of bone-and-wood towers and fire pits beneath a rock arch. Pick off the archers, then fight the Boss Bokoblin on open ground. The chest by the crates at the back holds a Spiked Boko Bow.

Chest (Portable Pot x5). Beyond the camp, Ascend up through the rock overhang and glide to the flat stone slab floating in the middle of a pond. The chest on it holds Portable Pot x5.

Carok Bridge
Carok Bridge Well. The stone well with a wooden roof stands just east of Carok Bridge, southwest of Hyrule Castle. Climb down and follow the tunnel to a small camp with a barrel and table, where a note from the cook Aurie Taamu lies. See all wells.

Miniboss: Hinox. A Hinox sleeps on the plank road by the bridge. Approach it from range, then climb onto its body or wait until it stoops and hit the glowing eye in its belly with arrows or a Bomb Flower. It drops a Hinox Horn.

Plains and Quarry Ruins
Korok seed (under the cliff). Beneath a grassy cliff overhang a green Ascend marker shows in the rock ceiling. Ascend through it to the grass above, where the Korok waits under a small tree.

Chest (Traveler’s Sword). Defeat the Bokoblins on the slope with the broken covered wagon, then crawl into the wreck. The chest on its bed holds a Traveler’s Sword.

Korok seed (knothole). A tall tree on a slope has a small round hole in its trunk. Stand back and shoot an arrow into the hole; the Korok pops out of the trunk.

Addison’s sign. On the roadside beyond the tree, Addison cannot get his signboard to stand. Lift the board with Ultrahand and set it upright against its post so it holds. He pays you a Red Rupee, Hasty Veggie Rice Balls and a Bomb Flower.

Chest (Spiky Club). The Quarry Ruins stand on a high cliff ledge west of Lookout Landing, and the rock is too slippery to climb in rain. Build a hover platform: lay a flat board, fix a Zonai fan at each end with the blades facing down, and add a control stick. Stand on it and fly up the cliff. The chest on the jagged rock below the shrine glow holds a Spiky Club.

Ishodag Shrine (A Windy Device) sits beside the chest on the rock. It teaches Zonai fans, has an Opal chest and a Light of Blessing. The Gadohsi Lightroot lies below it.

Completion tips
- Garrison Ruins. The Purple Rupee chest lies just west of the fountain, and the Brightbloom Seed x5 chest is in the ruins’ walls; take the seeds before the Depths.
- Stock for the Depths. Carry Brightbloom Seeds, spare weapons and gloom-resistant meals before dropping into the chasm; Lightroots are your only safe travel points down there.
