The seven Lightroots under Central Hyrule are all lit in one loop: dive in at Hyrule Castle for Apapes and Camobatures, grab the Miner’s Top at Daphnes Canyon Mine so you carry your own light, then sweep east and south through Gadohsi, Sinonoyk, Oyimay, Stakijat and Netinet, buying the Tunic of the Depths at the Plains Bargainer Statue on the way.
Quick route
Apapes Lightroot: cross the moat east of Hyrule Castle by raft and jump into the Hyrule Castle Moat East Chasm.
Camobatures Lightroot: climb to the rim of the Hyrule Castle Chasm below the castle and jump in.
Daphnes Canyon Mine: open the chest for the Miner’s Top and wear it.
Giant’s Grove (Large Crystallized Charge), the Sundelion camp, then Gustaf Canyon Mine (Large Crystallized Charge).
Gadohsi Lightroot, then the Sundelion chest just east of it.
Sinonoyk Lightroot, then Oyimay Lightroot.
Applean Grove, its Large Crystallized Charge, both Giant Brightbloom Seed chests, then Flux Construct I and the Plains Bargainer Statue.
Stakijat Lightroot, then Netinet Lightroot and its three chests.
Surface: three Korok seeds, North Hyrule Plain Cave and the chest behind New Serenne Stable.
Before you go down
Bring Brightbloom Seeds to throw ahead of you and a stack of food and elixirs that give gloom resistance. Every lit Lightroot is also a travel point, so you can warp back to the last one when you need to restock. Pick up the Poes that float around the roots and statues: they are the currency at the Bargainer Statue. A Lightroot’s name is its shrine’s name spelled backwards, and it sits directly below that shrine.

Apapes Lightroot (below Sepapa Shrine)
Getting in: the Hyrule Castle Moat East Chasm is not a hole in the open ground. It sits inside a small cave in the cliff where the moat east of Hyrule Castle meets the rock wall, across the water from the shore. Build a raft with Ultrahand (boards plus a Zonai wheel or fan to push it) or swim the last stretch, go in under the cliff and jump into the chasm. Open your paraglider once you are in the dark.

Apapes Lightroot: it lies north of where you land, directly under Sepapa Shrine. A Blue-White Frox, a “Scourge of the Depths”, waits below the chasm; you can glide past it. Examine the roots to light them. Its roots are on an island walled in from the Depths side, so this chasm is the only way to them.

Camobatures Lightroot (below Serutabomac Shrine)
Getting in: the Hyrule Castle Chasm lies beneath Hyrule Castle. Climb the cliffs and ruined road around the castle to the rim, dive off and glide straight down; the Lightroot is almost directly beneath the drop.

Camobatures Lightroot: it lies under Serutabomac Shrine on Hyrule Castle. Poes drift around the roots, so collect them as you land, then examine the roots to light them.

Daphnes Canyon Mine and the Miner’s Top
Daphnes Canyon Mine is an abandoned Zonai mine in a canyon far south-west of Camobatures, directly below Mount Daphnes. Glide in from high ground. The canyon walls are lined with Zonaite deposits that you can break for Zonaite.

Chest: Miner’s Top. Head for the stone ruin at the centre of the mine and use Ascend under its ceiling to come up onto the platform. The chest on top holds the Miner’s Top, a shirt with the Glow effect that lights the ground around you. Equip it at once; it makes the rest of the Depths far easier to read.

Giant’s Grove, the Sundelion camp and Gustaf Canyon Mine
Chest: Large Crystallized Charge (Giant’s Grove). Giant’s Grove is the dark forest of twisted trees north of Daphnes Canyon Mine, below the Giant’s Forest on the surface. A burning tree lights up a wide patch of the grove if you set one alight. Follow the low rock wall until you reach a chest at its foot, beside a gloom-covered tree, for a Large Crystallized Charge (worth 20 normal crystallized charges).

Miniboss: Stalnox. A Stalnox roams the fields just north-west of Giant’s Grove. Eat a gloom-resistance dish before you take it on.

Chest: Sundelion. A Bokoblin camp with a raised wooden lookout lies east of Giant’s Grove and south of Gustaf Canyon Mine. Clear it, climb onto the lookout and open the chest beside the torches for a Sundelion. Cooked into a dish, it restores hearts that gloom has eaten.

Miniboss: Stalnox. A second Stalnox walks the open plain west of that camp, on the way to Gustaf Canyon Mine, where streams of gloom cross the ground.

Gustaf Canyon Mine is the second abandoned mine, in a deep canyon directly below Mount Gustaf, south-west of the Gadohsi Lightroot. Glide in from the rim and break the Zonaite deposits in the canyon walls.

Chest: Large Crystallized Charge (Gustaf Canyon Mine). In the stone ruins at the centre of the mine, a boulder sits on the floor in front of a flight of steps. Lift it out of the way with Ultrahand, climb the steps between the pillars and open the chest for a Large Crystallized Charge.

Gadohsi Lightroot (below Ishodag Shrine)
Gadohsi lies north-east of Gustaf Canyon Mine, below Ishodag Shrine and the Quarry Ruins. For height, climb the trunk of one of the tall mushroom trees on the way, Ascend through its cap and glide from the top; the orange bulb of the Lightroot is visible from there. Land beside the roots and examine them.

East of Gadohsi: a Sundelion chest and a Frox
Chest: Sundelion. In the Bokoblin camp just east of the Gadohsi Lightroot, a large rock leans against a wooden platform. Climb the rock onto the boards and open the chest for a second Sundelion.

Miniboss: Frox. A second Frox, another “Scourge of the Depths”, lies in the gloom pools south-east of the camp, between Gadohsi and Sinonoyk. Zonaite deposits grow on its shell and can be broken off.

Sinonoyk Lightroot (below Kyononis Shrine)
Sinonoyk is a long glide east of the camp, below Kyononis Shrine in the Hyrule Castle Town Ruins. Gloom pools cover the ground around it, so approach from above: climb a mushroom tree, Ascend through its glowing cap, and glide down to the roots. Examine them to light the Lightroot.

Tip: Stalhorse. A Stalhorse wanders the open plain between Sinonoyk and Oyimay. Walk up, press the Mount prompt and ride it to Oyimay; it covers the Depths much faster than walking.

Oyimay Lightroot (below Yamiyo Shrine)
Oyimay sits east of Sinonoyk, below Yamiyo Shrine in Hyrule Field. Glide off the last ridge toward the green glow at the top of the roots, land at their foot and examine them.

Applean Grove to the Plains Bargainer Statue
Applean Grove is a Bokoblin camp of stacked crates and fences south of Oyimay, below Applean Forest. Clear the camp and break the ore deposits for Zonaite.

Chest: Large Crystallized Charge (Applean Grove). A short walk north-east of the camp, a chest sits in a small clearing beside a gloom-covered tree. Open it for a Large Crystallized Charge.

Chest: Giant Brightbloom Seed x5 (platform camp). South-west of Oyimay and west of Applean Grove, a Bokoblin camp has a raised wooden platform against a rock. Stand underneath and use Ascend through the boards, then open the chest by the torches for Giant Brightbloom Seed x5.

Miniboss: Stone Talus. A Stone Talus stands on the open ground just south-east of that platform. The ore on its back drops Amber when struck.

Miniboss: Hinox. A gloom-covered Hinox sleeps further east, near the gloom pools between the Stone Talus and the next camp.

Chest: Giant Brightbloom Seed x5 (crate pallet). At the next Bokoblin camp to the east, a chest sits on a wooden pallet in front of a stack of crates. Open it for a second Giant Brightbloom Seed x5.

Miniboss: Flux Construct I. A stone arena of Zonai blocks lies north-east of the Plains Bargainer Statue. Flux Construct I is built from cube blocks; break it apart and strike the glowing core block when it is exposed. It drops Zonai devices (a Small Wheel and a Light) and Zonai charge.

Plains Bargainer Statue. The carved stone figure stands on a hill north of the Stakijat Lightroot, with Poes floating around it; press the Pray prompt to trade Poes. Stock seen here: Tunic of the Depths (150 Poes, gloom resistance; part of the Depths set), Magic Rod (100 Poes; fuse a Sapphire to it for an ice rod), Dark Tunic (150 Poes), Fierce Deity Boots (400 Poes), plus Bomb Flowers, Puffshrooms and Muddle Buds (16 Poes each). The armor and rod are one-of-a-kind buys.

Rest of the Bargainer stock. Each item is a one-time purchase unless noted. Besides the above, the statue sells Dark Hood (300 Poes), Dark Trousers (200), Hood of the Depths (300), Gaiters of the Depths (200), Magic Scepter and Magic Staff (100 each), Sword of the Hero (100), Dusk Claymore (140), Biggoron’s Sword (150), Fierce Deity Sword (160), Sea-Breeze Boomerang (100), Sea-Breeze Shield (120), Dark Clump (10 Poes, up to 10) and a large run of 400-Poe costume pieces (Tunic of Memories, the Hero, Time, Twilight, Wind, Sky, Wild and Awakening sets, Fierce Deity, Phantom and Evil Spirit armor, Tingle’s outfit, Sheik’s Mask, Majora’s Mask, Midna’s and Zant’s Helmets, Ravio’s Hood, Korok Mask). Most are worth buying only once you have farmed Poes; the Tunic of the Depths and Magic Rod are the useful early buys.
Stakijat and Netinet Lightroots
Stakijat Lightroot lies a short way south of the statue, below Tajikats Shrine. The orange bulb is visible overhead as you approach; walk in under the roots and examine them.

Netinet Lightroot is west across the dark ground from Stakijat, below Teniten Shrine. It rises from a shallow hollow with its bulb high above; step into the roots and examine them.

Netinet chests and the last Frox
Chest: Amber. A short walk north-east of Netinet, a Boss Bokoblin guards a camp against a cliff. Defeat it and open the chest at the foot of the cliff for Amber.

Chests: Soldier’s Shield (or Traveler’s Shield, Knight’s Shield or Royal Shield, depending on your progress) and Arrow x10. Right behind that camp, among the rocks beside a wooden lookout frame, one chest sits on the rocks and holds a Soldier’s Shield (free a shield slot first). The other sits on the wooden planks just past it and holds Arrow x10.

Miniboss: Frox. A third Frox lies in the gloom field east of Netinet, between it and Stakijat. Zonaite deposits grow on its shell and can be broken off.

Surface: Korok seeds and New Serenne Stable
Korok seed 1 (hanging acorn). South-west of Carok Bridge Well, a natural stone arch spans the river with a small gravel island under it. Glide down from the cliff onto the island and shoot the acorn hanging from the underside of the arch with an arrow.

Korok seed 2 (build across the river). Further south-west along the river, planks and Zonai parts lie on the bank. Join them with Ultrahand into a simple craft and cross to the far bank; the Korok is hiding in a bush with white flowers.

Korok seed 3 (rock on the stand). On the slope just below the entrance of North Hyrule Plain Cave, a forked wooden stand is missing its rock. Pick up the round boulder nearby with Ultrahand and set it into the fork; the Korok appears on the rock face behind it.

Misko’s treasure. Talk to the traveler by the fruit bushes on the hillside to start the hunt for Misko’s climbing outfit. It is in North Hyrule Plain Cave, whose entrance opens in the slope northwest of Carok Bridge: two chests with a Traveler’s Shield each, a chest with the Climbing Gear (Climbing set) and a Bubbulfrog with a Bubbul Gem. The cave page has the route.

Chest: Red Rupee. Behind New Serenne Stable, a small chest lies in the grass beside the corral fence, near the stable’s stone well. Lift it with Ultrahand and open it for a Red Rupee.
